Hello, the shutter can be set for three or two blades, when on the two blade setting you can do video transfer and you get 16% more light,so why should you put it back to the three blade setting?.By leaving it on the two blade setting and getting 16% more light will i do harm to my Beaulieu 708 ?regards John.

None John.

Three blade facility is only ever really NEEDED for projecting 18fps home produced amateur movies as otherwise you will be able to see considerable levels of flicker to the naked eye, despite having the fastest pull down claw of any machine, exposing the frame for longer to the lamp, hence the unbelievable brightness levels from the otherwise modest lamp power and also lack of any flicker to the naked eye on 24fps.

I take lots of video footage of my machine in run and even with the digi camera set to 25fps and the PJ running at 24fps fixed, you never see any flicker and hardly any strobing effect even on camera. None at all if you match the PJ to 25fps on two bladed shutter mode. [Wink]

Hello John. The two blades position is used at 24 fps. At 18 fps, you will get a flickering picture. You will not harm your projector by using it with two blades at 18 fps, only your eyes.
