Following the previous thread about Eumig, I just want to know where the other companies now. Many companies are defunct but surprisingly there are several still operating, but of course none of the companies are still making 8mm projector.

1. Eumig ---> defunct
2. Sankyo ----> still making music box (http://www.nidec-sankyo.co.jp/orgel/e/)
3. Elmo ---> still operating (http://www.elmo.co.jp/)
4. Bolex ----> still operating (https://www.bolex.ch/NEW/index.php)
5. Beaulieu ---> defunct (only selling parts at 20, Rue Émile Zola 41200)
6. Chinon ---> still operating under Kodak (www.chinon.co.jp)
7. Ricoh ---> still operating (www.ricoh.com)
8. Bell & Howell ---> name is still in market (https://bellhowell.net/)
9. Bauer ...?
10. Fujica ----> still operating (www.fujifilm.com)
11. Kodak ---> still operating, although filled bankruptcy in 2012 ( www.kodak.com)
12. Copal ....
13. Fumeo ...
14. Goko.....
15. Heurtier ...
16. etc, etc

Noris is amiss, too.

BTW Goko should be still in business. Fumeo should be still in existance although just for spares. Bauer was part of the Bosch/Blaupunkt galaxy...

I live about 10 miles away from ELMO's North American headquarters (That's where my Avatar was taken.)

As far as I know, they moved into this building after the end of 8 and 16mm projector production, so the odds of there being something interesting in that building aren't very good.

They make document projectors for business and education. I'm sure they are very good, but not as much fun to use. I really doubt 30 year from now people will be gathering at a hotel in Wildwood to see bar graphs shown on a big screen!

(-at least not as amusement...)

All I ask is a wide screen and a projector to light her by...

Of all these company names, Bell & Howell stands out as the one with the most tragic downfall. This once iconic Chicago company name is still present on TV ads in the USA, in the form of such cheap $19.99 Chinese trash as flashlights, kitchen knives, and hair dryers. Vey sad.

Phillips Electronics in the Netherlands built the first projectors that could run both 35mm and 70mm films; the DP-70. Some of the ones sold in America were marketed under the more familiar name of their American subsidiary NORELCO. The projectors are no longer manufactured but their lives on in electronic shavers.
