I recently picked up a Copal CP-S-402 Sound Projector. It's in great shape, but I'm having an issue. When I go to thread film, it's being crunched up (like a bellows) before it even makes it to the film gate/claw region. Any thoughts on what might be causing this? Thanks in advance to all who can offer help/advice.

I checked and there's no trace of broken film in the path. The upper sprocket is turning normally. Robert: This make of machine doesn't have an inching knob (it would be nice if it did.)

Just a thought. On some projectors, you have to press down on a threading lever above the film path before feeding the film in otherwise the film can be crunched up. I don't know if there's one on your Copal or if you have an instruction manual.

It automatically drops the lever down when the control switch is put into the forward mode. the lever pops up once the film is secured on the reel. Thanks Will.
