Turned on my trusty Sankyo today and the bulb went in seconds. Put a new lamp in and the same thing happened? Any ideas?

Hi Mike,

The quickest way to blow a lamp is supply it with voltage too high. Double the voltage, quadruple the power. Take this far enough and you've re-invented the flash bulb! So your first step is to make sure you haven't accidentally re-configured for 115 VAC (I can get away with that here, but...)

Bonus if you can measure the voltage at the socket.

The question is then: "What blew?" Are there roasted filaments rattling around in the glass envelopes? Are the pins burned off?

Bonus if you can measure the resistance of the lamp (out of circuit)

Was the replacement lamp the wrong voltage? Perhaps 12 volts?
The 800 uses the A1/232 which is 15 volts.
