Are we really up to number 19? Astounding!
A weekend of film. That's really what the CineSea gathering is....A weekend packed with talking about, watching, buying, selling, trading film and film equipment in gauges from 8mm to 35mm. A weekend of hanging out with fellow film collectors. A weekend of sharing your favorite films and film stories while trying to fit in as many group meals as possible!
That was the basic idea John Black & Shorty Caruso had when they held the first CineSea in 2009. Have an affordable show (There is no charge for admission) where collectors can get together and enjoy this wonderful hobby. Ten years later, CineSea has become a much anticipated event, with collectors traveling impressive distances to attend. If you have film or equipment to sell, 6 foot dealer tables are available for only $20. You can rent as many as you like. Lou Franchetti and his son Louis will be there with stacks of 8mm and 16mm. To reserve a table you can email/PM myself or Lou. At the last two events we couldn't squeeze any more dealer tables in, so please let us know soon if you'd like to get one.
We start with the Friday Night Feature screening on the evening of April 26th. If you're going to join us and have a feature print you'd really like to show, we'll soon be asking you to list the title/format here and we'll have an online survey to pick the winner. Gary Sloan's 16mm print of Psycho was the winner last time and it was a big hit.
The Saturday show starts at 10 AM and many, many projectors will be running non-stop and many, many films will trade hands right up to the group dinner. Upon our return we start our Saturday night screenings, which have run as late as 2 AM. Bring what you'd like to show (under 20 minutes, please!).
Remember, we have a beautiful beach right across the street. You can take a break from watching films and stroll along the boardwalk.
Recently, more and more people have been arriving on Thursday to help set up, go out to dinner and then screen whatever we feel like! If you can make it a day early, please come!
Please make your reservations soon at:
The Ocean Holiday Resort
6501 Ocean Avenue
Wildwood Crest, NJ 08260

Thanks, Doug!
It's a wet, snowy night: a plow just passed the house and it sounded like he was struggling against the slop...
-what was needed here was a sign of Spring!

And that message is indeed a sign of happy times - Shorty

Snowed all night...
Had to go to work anyway! (What a ripoff!)
-but seriously folks!
These weekends are about as much fun as you can have without risking personal injury, divorce or criminal arrest: it's just good, clean fun!
I find I enjoy collecting film a lot more as a result of CineSea. Meeting other people that even have any idea what small gauge film is about is a rare thing these days: here's your chance to share a weekend with several dozen who really get it!

Steve. you enjoy collecting a lot more because of Cinesea... i know exactly what you mean. its the same here in the UK. especially with Blackpool. these events make it more fun. and knowing we have these regular events. it adds more to our hobby. and helps keep our interest in real film.

Now, if some of you nice chaps will make the journey here...we can exchange ideas, enjoy good food and drink, one another's company, and be all the merrier for it - Cheers, Shorty

How exciting can't wait to attend. Breaking bread and rub elbows with fellow collectors.

Doug - your excellent 'promo' of the upcoming CineSea 19 had me 'drooling!' and after a difficult past few years caring for my mother and now going through the process of Probate and selling her house etc... I am determined to go to my first ever Blackpool Convention here in the UK in November followed by my first ever visit to New Jersey for 'CineSea21' in April 2020
It will be my pleasure to finally meet as many of the great people on this forum as possible at both of these excellent conventions, including: yourself; Shorty; et al....and Steve Klare who's hilarious wit on here has often brightened-up my days and has even had me bursting with laughter - out loud!
I wish everyone attending another great convention and, as always, will follow the events of the weekend on here
Ali.

That's great, Ali - and I will try for Blackpool again this year to revisit my mates and have fun - Cheers, Shorty

Cheers Shorty - and that gives me even more reason to get to Blackpool in November!
If you get roped-in again at CineSea to do 'a turn' with your impressions - then maybe someone might video it on their cell-phone and give it to Klaus to post in his (always) excellent revue of next month's convention??
Ali.
