Hi,
Recently i purchase some film in french on 30cm diameter reel (350m?) that include flipper the dolphin, qai des orfèvre (complete on 2 reel, +600M) and Colossus of Rhodes (a Sergio leon movie).
I have the problem that this reel are too big for my projector, so i have 2 question about the lenght on the flipper movie and Colossus of Rhodes. Do you have somme idear have long are this movie?
Flipper is in one reel with some cartoon and Colossus of Rhodes is on one reel with a documentary.
And in all box the owner put a small bag who suck moisture (the same one you can found wenn you buy clothe), do i need to remove them or it's good for the film conservation.

Hello Pierre.
A 31 cm spool is Indeed a 360 mt one. There are some spools with the same diameter that have a 420 mt capacity (the center is smaller than on other spools) but they are not common.
Flipper is probably a 60 mt cartoon (example : https://www.bd-cine.com/fiche.php?id=2981) or a 250 mt digest of the tv serie (https://www.bd-cine.com/fiche.php?id=8787).
Four extracts from Colossus of Rhodes seem to have been released, so it dépends on what you have.
I'm happy to see that you now also like pré-'80s films :-)
Quai des Orfèvres is a 670 mt release.
I personnally don't put silica gel bags on the film boxes but I don't know if I'm right or wrong.

I like all kind of movie but a slight preference for the 90th and after maybe the nostalgia. The owner don't know because it's was a inheritance. I was hoping it was a digest because i prefere to says a resume of a film than just a part, it's less frustrating.
Sorry i don't have a rewind arms or even a viewer but i have splicer. the silica bag makes me perplex maybe i will remove them and replace them by news paper, a colectioneur said to me it was good to preserve the film from humidity.
Your are lucky, it's always very nice to have the box.
