Yes I saw that. Wonder how much it will go for. Any Idea what a good price is on those? I have not seen them come available.

They don't pop up here often, especially in the US. The last one I remember that was located in the States went for around $750 or so, that was almost two years ago. Perfect print, though. This one listed on Ebay has lines, and the 'occasional emulsion' line too.

Doesn't need to be perfect...As a star wars and a film nut it would be really cool just to own a piece of star wars history (considering this is the original 1977 edit!)

I can't recommend the official Derann print highly enough. I had a bootleg once and sold it - but the Derann scope print I bought from a forum member is now one of my most prized possessions... absolutely stunning picture and stereo sound, too... so the one on Ebay now is worth getting and it's from a reputable collector. I know $500 sounds steep - but they really are hard to find now.

It's funny, I chose to leave my first day (first day that it was for sale) print mono, and added the commentary track from the DVD on the balance stripe. The color is absolutely gorgeous on that print and doesn't suffer from the later negative wear conditions that came forth later.

Could somebody put up a link to that auction? I wouldn't mind seeing it, if they have screenshots.

(gee, and I remember thinking I was paying a hell of a lot five years ago at 200.00 pounds!)

Osi, if only they were still available at that price, I'd surely have one by now.

Well, this person is certainly an honest seller. If he was dishonest, he certainly wouldn't show the green scratches.

Looking at the screenshots, you tend to forget just how wonderfully wide the scope image actually is!

The black scratches are kind of hard to see on the screen shots. So please bid accordingly. This is a print I was hoping to replace my current print with but it was only slightly better. Mine was re-recorded by Lance so the sound is actual better than this one. I believe the stereo comes from Derann. I may try to get closer shots of the scratches before auction ends. I'd just be thrilled to get the opening bid. I got an email wanting to end the auction early with a buy-it-now but unfortunately I just don't do this.

Using Photoshop I pointed out the scratches:

and I can vouch for Larry's very reliable service and as a good seller and of course, friend.

I have compared (with my own print) the Derann super 8 against at least the laserdisc (I don't count trhe modern DVD and that has been color corrected and in fact changed and darkened overall), and I do find that Derann print to be better than the laserdisc and (personally) perferrable over any DVD.

I do, however look forward to the Blu-ray release of the features and I might just be tempted to jump into blu-ray, just for that film!

That's outrageous! I wouldn't accept them for paying so little ...

Awww, who am I kidding? I wonder if that was a "Buy it now" auction and someone snapped it up as soon as it came up? I never saw it either!

I don't think it was, Osi.... there were 8 or 9 bids. Another 'wrong category' I need to add to my 'scour list'. LOL

Correct Greg, but that was the art that they used on the boxes for "Star Wars", at least on early boxes, 9as I have), I don't know if they used different art later on.

Ooooh, ok. Maybe whoever bought all of them did it to re-sell them, and we'll see them pop up.
