I must add, the damage that any of my films do have are always from the previous owners, you have to ask how some people in the past have treated them, I can only assume that a lot of past collectors didn't clean the film paths of there projectors.

The only projector I ever had that damaged a brand new print I bought was a B&H filmosonic. I know there normally pretty good but it did put me off buying any more B&H. [Wink]

You must have been lucky with your PJ's Tom. I have had every machine I have ever owned damage at least a small portion of film at one point or another when cams or guides have worn etc etc.

Even my Beaulieu had an issue when I first got it until I discovered a tapped hole in a plastic guide had a very worn thread. Flawless since I hasten to add, but never had an ST1200 projector yet that didn't randomly scratch occasionally despite one or two being like new.

I have to admit to be constantly giving our 1200hds lots of clean ups, you could say I treat them like teeth also,before hanimax gave up the service franchise for elmos I bought a dozen of the green guides that cause the scratching problem with these machines as well as several sets of genuine elmo belts. And any HD1200s We bought had all these items replaced as standard and of course bill parsons has given them his attention so far it seems to have done the trick.

Bill is an Elmo genius that's for sure, so with this in mind plus the help of having plenty of genuine spare parts you obviously have a fantastic chance of keeping yours better than most Tom, and it's clearly the case judging by the condition of your latest posts. [Wink]

Yep and a bit of OCD. Another thing I am lucky with is having a dedicated room so the projector stay put and gets covered after every show. I am convinced that with all projectors cleaning constantly is the key.

You're right Tom, but I have to say, I don't have to go over the top nowadays with either my Bauer or Beaulieu now they are both in perfect health. I regularly run a 1.5 or 2hr film through them both without any break and the films are fine from start to finish the next time they are screened.

After a two hour session I will clean the machine path then, but I have heard of some people who like to clean their machines after even 400ft of film has passed through them!
