Kevin,
I'm really sorry to hear about the theft of your bike, but your insurance should cover most of the value of the bike (won't it?), I hate to see you sell your Disney collection.
I have sent you an email about 1 of your films listed.
Posted by Keith Ashfield (Member # 741) on April 08, 2007, 02:49 AM:
Hi Kevin,
Really sorry to hear your bad news. I agree with Barry, try the insurance. I have sent you a PM with a suggestion, let me know your thoughts.
All the best mate, it can only get better!
Posted by Kevin Faulkner (Member # 6) on April 08, 2007, 05:18 AM:
Thanks guys. The trouble is the time it takes for the insurance to sort it. They wont do anything for the next month to see if it gets recovered (I doubt it) and then you know how slow insurance companies are. The last time this happened to me it took 3 months and at a cost of £350/month for travel to work it then drains the funds.
I have the possibility to buy a Honda Fireblade fairly soon and I don't want to be in debt buying it hence selling my films.
Kev.

Kev,
I am so sorry to hear your bike.
Anyway, I thought bike thief and slow insurance company only happened in my country...
Apparently it is so universal...
No who works in a insurance company here?
BTW, Osi you have to see that Kev also sells the most rarest copy of Close Encounters!
cheers,

KEVIN,Im very sorry indeed to hear about your motor bike.It seems a great pity that you have to sell some of your beloved Disney titles, because of a couple of yobs!.I do hope you are back on the road soon. You should have no trouble selling those great titles.I wonder if Osi has noticed CEO3K?.Andy.
Posted by Mark Todd (Member # 96) on April 08, 2007, 07:45 AM:
Flammin swines Kev, hope you can sort it OK.
I`ve just been hit by a £500+ for MOT and its abit flexible too.
Can you maybe buy a cheapo one to get you moving, you can usually pick up a decent suzuki or honda 500 tein for around 500 notes then sell it on afterwards.
The sodds etc etc etc.
Good luck. Best Mark.

Hi Kev,
I am really sorry for about your bad luck. These b***tards don't care about all the upset and inconvenience they cause. We all know how gutted you must feel about having to get rid of so many rare features.
Paul.
Posted by Alan Rik (Member # 73) on April 08, 2007, 10:51 AM:
Kev,
Again! ?!
Sorry to hear about that one! Great list of titles though. Sorry you have to sell the collection.
Posted by Del Phillipson (Member # 513) on April 08, 2007, 01:09 PM:
Hi Kev, I agree with the get a cheapy for now to do you till the insurance is sorted, keep pushing the insurance company though.
1 other thing, does your insurance not cover you the loan of a bike whilst you are sorting your claim out, I know mine gets me a hire vehicle whilst any claim is being made. Del.
Posted by Osi Osgood (Member # 424) on April 08, 2007, 02:40 PM:
Yes, Kevin, I DID notice Close Encounters and you have a PM awaiting you!!
All the best!!
OSI Osgood
Many condolences on the loss of your Bike!
Posted by Kevin Faulkner (Member # 6) on April 08, 2007, 07:59 PM:
Hey guys what can I say except a big THANKS
For me the biggest upset was actually seeing the guy ride of on my bike. I still cant believe that someone had the nerve to jump on my bike while I opened the garage door at work right behind me. I actually saw this guy ride off on my pride and joy which is what made it feel so bad.
Here is a pic of me and Kermit:
I'm still hoping that the police will find the bike but I dont really hold out any hope now.
I have seen the many emails and will decide during this coming week if some of my films will be on the move.
Osi, if CEOT3K does go you will be first in line.
Thanks again everyone, kev.
Posted by Dan Lail (Member # 18) on April 08, 2007, 10:54 PM:
Kev, sounds like someone was watching your work schedule habits and planned this out. Maybe you could install a device on yur next bike where it can be found easily. Hold onto those films as long as you can. Good luck my friend!
Posted by Craig Hamilton (Member # 258) on April 09, 2007, 10:55 AM:
Kev
For the love of God, please delete your post. It will take you an eternity to replace all these prints to the same high standard of your collection. I know most of your Disney's are first print runs and in mint condition. To get them back will cost a lot more than the price you have listed.
Do you not have any other equipment you could sell? IE Projectors, lens, editing equipment, digests etc etc
Please Kev, you may regret this once the insurance is finalized and you find yourself financially better off.
Craig
Posted by Kevin Faulkner (Member # 6) on April 09, 2007, 02:04 PM:
Craig, Yes I hear what your saying but it depends what you want more and for me the Bike is important.
It may be a case that the Bike wont happen at all as someone told me today that he thought if you had 2 bike thefts you then cant get insurance for a third?
Kev.
Posted by Robert Aragon (Member # 181) on April 09, 2007, 02:14 PM:
So sorry to have read about your bike. Truly sorry.
Posted by Peter Richards (Member # 738) on April 09, 2007, 02:32 PM:
Sorry to hear this Kevin, takes me back to when my bike was nicked out of my garage
Hope your insurance sorts you out and you don't have to sell any of that wonderful collection
Posted by Kevin Faulkner (Member # 6) on April 09, 2007, 06:24 PM:
Thanks Peter.
Its really great to have concerned friends on a forum like this It goes to show what a close knit community the film collectors really are.
One or two titles have now been sold and it will certainly help me get through this next month with the expensive traveling.
Thanks everyone, Kev.

That's an amazing picture you got of the tea leaf on your bike. I've forwarded it on to CID and they've confirmed they will feature the image on the next BBC Crimewatch.
Mischeivous looking devil, ain't he. Even had the audacity to wear leathers and helmet that matched the bike.
Whoops! Just noticed it's you on Kermit!
Posted by Tom Photiou (Member # 130) on April 10, 2007, 05:42 AM:
Very bad news indeed Kev. Really sorry to hear of the theft, total C**t is the only words to describe the thief , With a bit a luck the twat will wrap it round a lamp post and get wheelchaired for the rest his natural, been there myself only it was a car, fortunatly for me i rarely pay more than a few hundred quid for a car so altough it was inconvienience it wasnt too bad financialy, & it was a crappy old Mk2 escort( )
Just looking at your list buddy, i'd think twice on the Close encounters, you'd be lucky to find that again.
Good luck mate.
Posted by Osi Osgood (Member # 424) on April 10, 2007, 01:32 PM:
Quiet Tom, I want Close Encounters!!
Any news on the Bike since the last post you made Kev?
Posted by Rob Young. (Member # 131) on April 10, 2007, 02:19 PM:
Kevin, just read you post and to reiterate what Craig said, "for the love of god, please delete your post..."
I started to write the rest of this post and then decided to deleted it because I feel I must email you personally with what I have to say.
BUT FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, PLEASE DELETE YOUR POST...
Posted by Kevin Faulkner (Member # 6) on April 10, 2007, 04:00 PM:
No news yet. Insurance company have as of today asked for all the bikes docs and keys and said they would get the wheels in motion as soon as they receive them. They went of today so its fingers crossed time.
Yes I hear what you guys say about not selling my films and deleting my post but some are sold already. As Osi is aware and you can see that from his post I have not made a final decision yet on titles such as Spiderman and Close Encounters. I am not making any rash decisions yet so don't worry I know what I'm doing.
Thanks again, kev.

This is completely off the subject, but DAN, where did you get,
"Nellie got hit in the belly with a flounder" ?
Posted by Dan Lail (Member # 18) on April 10, 2007, 09:30 PM:
Osi, it's one of those campfire songs that evolved over the years. It started as "The cow Kicked Nellie In The Belly In The Barn". I think it's origins are from Ireland. I have even heard the flounder line in an Andrew Sister's song.
And don't forget that memorable line;
"Shoot The Sherbet To Me Herbert"
If we all sing the Flounder song loud enough, maybe Kev will get his Motor Bike back.

Hi Kevin,
I just spotted your post and I'm so sorry to read about the loss of your pride and joy to some scummy bugga, let's hope whoever it is get's their payback one day.
In the meantime try and keep hold of your other prized possessions for as long as you can because I know they also bring you much pleasure.
Whatever happens good luck mate.
Rick
BTW I'm on the move to the North Kent coast so we'll catch-up once I'm settled.
Posted by Kevin Faulkner (Member # 6) on April 11, 2007, 04:17 AM:
Ricky, Thanks. Wouldn't it make sense to drop your GS's off before you move.....it'll give me something to do now I cant get out on the bike
Kev.
Posted by Osi Osgood (Member # 424) on April 11, 2007, 10:00 AM:
Well things could have been worse, Kevin's GS 1200 could have been stolen.
Just so folks know, Close Encounters hold a very special memory for me. My Dad and I did very few things together. One of the few things was just having a father/son night at the movies, (Yeah, I know, get the bloody violins out!), and this was one of the movies we went to see when I was ten years old. Well, he was in the bar next door until the last 30 minutes, but still, we got to sit down and enjoy some of that magnificent movie together. After we got out, dad cussed a blue streak that he missed most of the movie.
So we went back later that week and saw it again.
This time dad only missed half the movie.
So this movie, apart from being a magnificent film, holds special meaning. He would only get three more chances to take me to the movies before he'd pass on.

Thanks God it wasn't the GS1200 Xenon with Schneider 1.1 The thought of it
Kev.
Posted by Michael De Angelis (Member # 91) on April 11, 2007, 11:11 PM:
Kev,
I am truly very sorry to learn that the
bike was stolen, and I hope and pray that there will
be a good resolve for the end to this unreal
nightmare.
If I was more flushed with money
I may be inclined to make an offer.
However the thought for me to offer you
in light of this desperate time just
would not settle right for me.
Hoping that this will result
in best outcome to this situation.
You are the kindest buddy to us all.
Michael
Posted by Kevin Faulkner (Member # 6) on April 12, 2007, 12:42 AM:
Thanks, Michael.
What I find really exasperating right now is that a film I have tried to get for years now suddenly makes an appearance and I'm not in a position to buy
Never mind, If I can get through this next couple of months on the trains then hopefully things shouldn't be too bad.
Kev.
Posted by Mark Todd (Member # 96) on April 12, 2007, 07:26 AM:
Yee Gods Kev, the thought of overcrowded public transport compared to the Bike is frightening. You should be paid compensation for that, even a cg 125 or something would be an improvement !!!!!
Good luck bearing it.
Best Mark.
Posted by Kevin Faulkner (Member # 6) on April 12, 2007, 03:33 PM:
Mark, I think the next one will have to be 1000cc not 125cc
I fancy a Fireblade next
Kev.
Posted by Osi Osgood (Member # 424) on April 12, 2007, 03:55 PM:
I fancy a pizza! I've been looking at the variety of Super 8 lately, and it is amazing as to how many films and what variety there was on Super 8. (If you include the optical sound features, there is vastly bigger list of Super 8!)
Kevin, I didn't see any optical super 8 on your list. Do you still have any opticals sitting around?
Posted by Lee Mannering (Member # 728) on April 12, 2007, 04:00 PM:
My Brother has one of them. Superb choice.
Something to make you smile now Kev. In the very early 80's my first bike was a Honda 50 moped with pedals on. On this moped I collected a Norisound 120 cine projector in its massive box and tied it onto the back of the moped. The box was bigger that the bike ! How on earth I got that home I will never know.
In the mid 80's I got a Suz GP100 and used to carry a Eumig 807D and small speaker in its top box, films in a tank bag, and gave films shows to local old folks homes for free.
Used to like that GP100 very much and it took me all over. I can understand your love of the bike Kev. Had to let the GP go when I got married...A sad day...

My, this has been a rollicking good post! Cracking! Pip pip!
ect. Really, I like a post where there's lots of feedback, even if it's brought on by a tradegy.
By the way, now that it's Friday, What's the word, Kevin, (concerning the bike) I hope good news.
But then again, when dealing with insurance companies, they'll do thier nest to screw you EVERY TIME!!
(word on the film will be appreciated as well. I am in such a tizzy!)
Posted by Graham Ritchie (Member # 559) on April 13, 2007, 04:10 AM:
Hi Kev
Just read this post and very sorry to hear about your bike and the nerve of someone to take it in such a way. I do hope that it turns up, removing the need for you to sell any of those wonderful films.
Regards Graham.
Posted by Kevin Faulkner (Member # 6) on April 15, 2007, 06:08 PM:
Thanks Graham, so do I. Not much interest in my list either
Kev.
Posted by Rob Young. (Member # 131) on April 16, 2007, 05:39 AM:
Hi Kevin; suprised that there is little interest in such an amazing list but as I expressed in my email to you last week, in a way I am glad that you will probably be keeping most of your wonderful collection and still hope that things can get resolved in other ways, whether its getting your bike back or the inusrance paying up.
BTW hope my email didn't seem too heavy or weird, its just that having had to sell part of my own treasured collection in the past to fund unexpected misfortunes I know how disheartening and regreatable it can be, whatever the circumstances...plus I was having a VERY bad day...
Anyway, hope everything gets sorted out so you can still keep your films
Posted by Kevin Faulkner (Member # 6) on April 17, 2007, 03:42 AM:
Rob, Found your email in my Junk filter and have now replied.
Kev.
Posted by Alan Rik (Member # 73) on April 18, 2007, 05:38 PM:
Kev,
I think the reason there has not been much interest in the list is that we all know you DONT want to sell them! I know I feel really bad about you selling them.
I hope that you get some good news and the films leave the chopping block. I have only sold a few films from my collection and thank god I don't want anyone of them back. Sorry "Little Mermaid"!
Posted by Osi Osgood (Member # 424) on April 18, 2007, 06:25 PM:
Although I'm intently watching a certian "special" film with high hopes of getting it, (aww, everybody knows which!), I feel bad that Kevin feels the need to sell.
I think the reason why the Disneys aren't selling is either everyone who wants one pretty much have them, or, (as in my case), I don't have that fond of a love for Disney features, (except in rare cases) that I would shell out a bunch of money on them.
Though I'm REALLY hoping to get that certian film, on the other hand, I would feel happy to see Kevin keep it, but I also recognize that this may be my one chance to get it, so I'm still hoping, Kevin!
Posted by Kevin Faulkner (Member # 6) on April 18, 2007, 06:26 PM:
Alan, Yes your right probably. No I don't really want to sell any but at the same time I do not want to be in debt over the loss of my bike and all the traveling costs in the meantime. I have been down that route before and don't want to go through that again.
I have now the possibility of a loan from work but at the end of the day i still have to pay it back.
I don't think I'm going to have to sell all my films so if people ask I think I can be a bit more choosy.
Kev.
