I only caught sight of the box once, it was like the OH MY ACHIN' TOOTH and PINCH ME PLEASE boxes, which showed a drawing of the action and had super-imposed their heads on their caricatures. I'm thinking of a film where water played a dominant part, so perhaps IN SOCIETY. I really do not know, so if anyone can answer this one, please do. I only know I need it to complete my long-run on their film releases. Tis a puzzler.

Castle would have had exclusive access to the Universal features so it wouldn't be IN SOCIETY. The Waltons were from one of their independent features. I'm pretty sure they are all from THE NOOSE HANGS HIGH. Other non-Universal titles were AFRICA SCREAMS and CAPTAIN KIDD, as well as a couple of MGM titles.

Thanks Robert, so it must be from KIDD or SCREAMS, as the releases from NOOSE have all been documented - Its a mystery, but I'll find it with anyone's help too

I have a 1970 Walton catalogue which lists BEAUTY AT THE BATH as a 50ft silent release only - though it may have been available in a longer sound edition previously.
Here is the Walton synopsis for BEAUTY AT THE BATH: "Lou's behaviour as a judge at a bathing beauty contest is so unconventional that his congratulations to the winning lovely prove to be a knock-out!"
Perhaps an A&C fan (I'm not one myself!) can identify the film from this. I'd be surprised if it's not from the same film as OH MY ACHIN' TOOTH and PINCH ME, PLEASE (which are listed in one-reel sound versions in the 1970 catalogue)- have they been identified?

Joe
I fast forwarded my DVD of "Africa Screams" and nothing in it matches Jonathan's description. It is obviously not "Captain Kidd." It is also unlikely to be MGMs "A & C in Hollywood."
But, have a look at You Tube. There is a clip from a British newsreel which Walton could have got hold of. It is the Morecombe Beauty Contest in 1950 with A & C as judges and Lou fooling around. It runs 101 seconds.

Maurice just sent us a free small film packet with a couple of kiddies shorts. Very nice surprise Maurice, much appreciated. Best Mark.

By George, I think that's it - It may have also been released in sound, but now I can identify the BEAUTY AND THE BATH as that newsreel foortage, question is where to get a copy in the box? - Thanks Maurice

Joe, I think all Walton's 50ft releases were silent only (this seems to be confirmed by the catalogue I have) so I'd be very surprised if it was released with sound.
