Hi,

I'm on the lookout for Super (or Standard) 8 prints of the following Diana Rigg novelty films loosely based on her role as Emma Peel in The Avengers, which were made and distributed in Germany:

DAS DIADEM (THE TIARA) (1966) B/W or Colour SOUND (or colour silent if not abridged 50ft reel)

DER GOLDENE SCHLÜSSEL (THE GOLD KEY) (Year unknown) Any print, preferably with sound

MINIKILLERS (1969)
4 part serial, distributed on separate reels. (Any prints, again, preferably with sound).

Good prices paid.

I understand these were made to be shown in petrol stations in Germany, but were also distributed on the collector market on Standard and Super 8.

Thanks for listening. Much appreciated.

Please email if you can help, or even if you can furnish me with further information about their provenance.

Cheers,

Alan

Alan, a fellow dealer had some of these (I remember watching The Tiara) at our annual convention last year. The reel was selling for somewhere around 50 euros. Next convention is in January, I can have a look then. Just remind me...

That sounds very reasonable, Jean-Marc. Thanks for your kind offer and response. Was it a sound version, do you know?

I bumped this up to go with Carsten's helpful reply in a separate post.

Watch Ebay Germany - I have seen them for sale but never knew what they were. The box art is very cool on them and I love the idea of the separately sold music disc... that reminds me of the Americom films... Good luck tracking them down.

Alan, PMs and emails are not active in your profile. Are you still looking for the Diana Rigg films made in Germany? I'm at a film fair and I'll have details for two of them tomorrow. I'll try to check emails then. contact me at jmtoussaint(at)claranet(dot)fr

Alan, films currently available at the fair are :
"Das Diadem" - 85 m - b&w - silent - 45 euros
"Minikillers" - 105 m - colour - deluxe box - silent - 85 euros
Does not include s&h.
It's from a dealer who owns a shop in Paris. If they are not sold at the fair, there's still a possibility to grab them at the store. Please let me know what you think.

Hi I've been intrigued by these titles for years were they available on 16mm?
I'm also interested in the prospect of a film dealer in Paris are there many left there I visit fairly regularly but haven't found any, although I did come across a poster for a 9.5 show so I guess there is a cine scene.

Joe, one of Europe's largest film fairs is held in the suburb every January (see this thread), and we have a permanent cine shop (here) somehow comparable to Umit in London.
I don't know if the Diana Rigg's Mini thrillers were ever available in 16mm.

Thanks for that! Just missed the fair but perhaps next year- or are there some others?

Hi Jean-Marc,

I'm terribly sorry. I've only just seen your post. I've had a very busy time lately and hadn't popped into the forum for a while.

If that print of Minikillers is still available from the Paris store, I'd definitely like you to pick it up for me, please. I can pay you by Paypal, if that's OK?

Minikillers was in four parts originally. I don't have any of the parts currently, so whatever it turns out to be, I'd like it! The fact it's silent is not a huge problem as I have a full soundtrack on DVD.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Many thanks - and sorry for not noticing your offer earlier.

Best wishes,

Alan

P.S. I did try sending this to your email via the forum, but it didn't work. By all means contact me at alan_hayes@blueyonder.co.uk

Hey Alan, is the DVD you mention a commercial release? If so could you provide more details as I would like to track it down.
Thanks Joe

Hi Jean -Marc is there to be a film fair in Paris next year?
Like the one in January this year. I have been searching the net but my french is not good enough!
Any news would be appreciated. Thanks

Joe, the decision is pending. Because of the influenza crisis, many public buildings are being turned into emergency medical facilities. And that's the case for the convention hall.
A lot of exhibitors (yours trully included) talked to the organizers. Two solutions are being investigated:
1/ Keep the last weekend of january date and move the convention to a different location. Problem: the other location is smaller, difficult to reach and no parking arrangement.
2/ Keep the location but postpone the convention to a later date, probably last weekend of September. This is the solution we all prefer.

Alan: sorry I haven't been able to go back to the store over the last few months.

Thanks for that Jean Marc, would be nice to have something to look forward to in January but September means more time to save [Wink]
Just got back from Paris which is quite expensive with the current pound/euro rate.
Visited the cine shop and the Diana Rigg films are no longer there.

PS
Something tells me that the flu epidemic will be less severe than the publicity would like us to believe.

Thanks, Jean-Marc. I'm still around - just not the most prolific contributor here! Thanks for remembering.

Joe - the restoration was for a TV and Film event in the Midlands. Not for a commercial release. Yet.

Just to say that I have tracked down copies of all the MiniKilers releases, as far as I know. Would still like to pick up the recorded music that was available with them(or copies there of!)
I have found recordings of the themes MiniKillers 1=2.
