Rob,

This has nothing to do with "Alien" unfortunately. I tried to send you an email through the forum but it bounced.

Do you still do rerecording? I have a terribly chattery "Lion King" from Derann (4x600). The print is gorgeous but even with a mixer I can't quite get rid of all the sprocket sounds, particularly on the right channel. I have "Toy Story" and "Jungle Book" from them and both sound first rate, so it's not the projector (GS-800).

You're in Carlsbad, California, right? Please send me an email if interested.

Actually, Kurt, the projector can play a role in this. I had similar problems with a print on a GS 1200, but when I played it on another GS 1200, the problem disappeared. I think margins in super8 are so small, that minuscule variations in machines/prints can have this effect. It could be the two prints you have that sound fine, are well within limits but The Lion King is "borderline".

I wouldnīt dream of tweaking with the GS 800, however -"if itīs not broken donīt fix it" is a golden rule! Rerecording is probably your best bet. [Smile]

Cheers

Lars,

That's a really good point. My "Jungle Book" and "101 Dalmatians" have a sound stripe that wanders into the frame now and then but you have to forgive it because the prints are so attractive. Probably the control stripe on "Lion King" just happens to be fractionally closer to the sprockets than normal, thus creating the clattering sound.

Kurt,

yes and it could be some prints are 7,99 mm wide and others are 8, 01. These prints are often made on 16mm stock then slit, so there would be some margin for error there.

Cheers
Lars
