Mark, Dave I have Straw Dogs also and mine fits on 4 x 400ft. This is the length it was released at I think and whilst I have not seen the original full length film, this version is obviously abridged.

Hi Mark/ David,
just checked and it seems to be thinner so I assume acetate?
This is the version that was released by ABC International. I think there was about 17 minutes of film on each 400ft reel, giving a running time of about 85 minutes (the full lenth film was over 100 minutes).

If fits quite comfortably on the 2 800ft reels.

Cheers Dave/David

It must be on acetate stock then as my old copy would only fit on 2 x 800ft+ 1 x 400ft.

I prefered this shortened version as it concentrates more on the action and only cuts a few non essential scenes with dialogue.
