were any of these ever made if so does someone have a example picture wise ? [Confused]

would love to have one of these dr. no is one of my top 10 favorite movies [Smile]

The only one I can think of is "Casino Royale" (1967) being available only in France and Germany. I have a sound B&W version but in German sound - not a bad cutdown.

I would love to know if there were any others made as it's seems odd that a popular franchise like the Bond one wouldn't be a good brand for Super 8 companies to exploit.

The only way they were released was by Durann as full features. And only select titles at that. I have Goldfinger and it is and excellent print. My guess would be that Danjaq who holds the original rights wanted far too much to make it profitable to release them as digests. However there are trailers out there from all of them if you keep a look out. They are nice 3 minute trailers. I have most of them which I put on 400' reels to make them more enjoyable. [Confused]

James Bond will return....

Although there were no abridged versions, there are the 400' releases from CHC from two or three films - I recall one is the pre-credits sequence of the 'The Living Daylights'. And there is an old 400' release that I think was called 'The World of the James Bond'. This had clips from somethink like 3 different features, but it's hard to find nowadays.

But don't forget, if I am not mistaken, there was a cut-down from "Never Say Never Again" with Sean Connery which is 1200' (or 3 x 400').

I really liked Never Say Never. It is my 2nd favourite Bond film after Diamonds Are Forever.

Charles K Feldman's Casino Royale is my fav, but Diamonds are Forever is my second fav. Never Say Never Agin was great, I know it's not as good as Thunderball, but it was a product of it's time!

One of the biggest dissapointments in super 8 is there are hardly any real 007 digests/cutdowns. But here is a mini list of some of the shorts available on super 8.

JAMES BOND SHORTS (excluding features)

TRAILERS
Most trailers I think were available (if not all) some in both flat and scope but some of mine have turned mainly to green but are still watchable. There are many trailers out there on low fade as well.

CUTDOWNS
Derann released 'Never Say Never Again' as a 2x600ft (approx 1 hour) and I believe is a proper edited version. The only 007 digest released I think. However these are very rare and seldom are for sale on dealers lists, cant remember seeing one, but they exist somewhere. Its on my wants list [Razz]

INTROS
The Living daylights - CHC release scope
Goldeneye - CHC release scope

These are the complete unedited intro sequences from the films that start with the gun barrell but do not include the main titles and music. Comes on a 400ft reel. Very good prints and might still be available from CHC.

OTHER
Goldeneye promo pop video with Tina Turner. CHC release 200ft. Complete video which contains a few small clips from the film.

Pinewood studios - Derann release 200ft (also mountain release)
Movietone news special on the making of 'The Spy who Loved Me' along with the Wombles!

THIS IS SCOPE - Derann release 200ft scope stereo
Clips from various scope films including the bike chase clip from Never Say Never Again.

THE WORLD OF JAMES BOND – 400ft
A full reel of thrilling 007, with sequences from Thunderball, Goldfinger and You only live Twice. See Little Nellie, Goldfingers laser beam and Shirley Eaton’s paint job. Sean Connery shows us all how Bond should really be.

I am happy to say that I have all the above except Never Say Never Again digest. I have 7 x 400' reels of 007 trailers and intros. All except 1 reel have very good color and sound. It has taken me a while to get them but it was worth it. I also have a pristine "Goldfinger" full feature which I got from Steve Osborne. It's on 4 x 600' reels and is also in stereo.

There is an optical print of On Her Majesty's Secret Service on EBay right now. But that does not interest me. Goldfinger is my favorite 007 film. I have also been to Pinewood Studios and actually been on the set of a film. [Big Grin]

As this thread now mentions more or less every 007-related release (albeit not going into all the details regarding the numerous trailer releases), maybe we should finish it off by including the feature releases? Other than Derann's 'Goldfinger', I know there are a few German releases, also sold by CHC, but I'm not certain which.

I missed this earlier on [Frown]

. I phoned at 4:30pm this afternoon shortly after the list came out and it had gone already. I had a feeling this would go in seconds when I saw this on the list. [Frown]

Anyway, I was informed this was a US release but dont know anything else about it. Can anyone tell me anything about this short. Who did release it? What is the quality like now (are they on low fade or on pinky eastman)? Where did the film originate from i.e. who made it? and how many copies are there out there?

Sorry to ask so many questions but this film has now moved top of my want list [Wink]

I tried for that World print also. It was long gone. That is so rare. Probably years before one shows up again. I just thought it was odd that it showed up just as it was mentioned in a posting one the forum. [Wink]

I used to have a copy of World that I sold maybe about 10 years ago. At the time, the colour was fine but I obviously can't say if it would be now. I think the quality was reasonably good although I wouldn't be surprised if the source material was 16mm prints. I think it's simply a succession of clips without any linking commentary. I recall mine had a box label that looked like an early 1980s import distributed by Derann, but I couldn't confirm who released it. I sold mine for a fairly low price because it had bad sideways weave that I found too distracting. I'm sure it's rare although I'd suggest making certain that there's no fading before paying £50 for one!

Hi all, please remember that Casino Royale (1967) and Never Say Never Again (1983) are not part of the Eon stable of Bond films. But you know that already. Cheers

Thanks Adrian for that reply, very helpful.

When I read that description on the Derann list I had hoped that it would be like a documentry with behind the scenes clips and commentry but alas as you say its just a clip fest (but a good clip fest), but I still want it so will keep looking for other copies.

I remember seeing a short for ON HER MAJESTYS SECRET SERVICE showing some filming the scenes where Bond escapes via an ice skating rink.
