Touché, Akshay!
8mm Porn is an interesting phenomena: Whether we approve of it or not it was a major force in small gauge film for a while. There are those who say (true or not) that a great many Elmo GS-1200s made their living back in the day not showing Derann's Sound of Music over at Uncle Bob's home cinema, but raunchy skin flicks at Big Louie's Fleshorama and Exotica Emporium!

The GS1200 seems a bit excessive, due to the cost. Perhaps the ST1200 were used and didn't they have a continuous loop device that attached to the top.
Or they would use some other cartridge projector that could rewind without an operator.
I'm thinking here of the type I visited on a research trip in either San Francisco or Las Vegas in 1980 my first trip to America. My mate and me went into a bookshop and they had booths at the back, curiosity we had to check them out. Porno films on show.
Now we had never seen one before so paid a quarter to watch one. A real eye opener.
Only 19 at the time and 'fairly' innocent.

In Italy "club privee" (private clubs, as they're called here) used Fumeo 9119 to show them, spliced in 550mt and 700mt spools. Some years ago, a film dealer here in Milan, received 15 or so spools of these films and told me that they used Fumeo because it allowed both long projection and low maintenance.

I think my first GS1200 may have come from the Big Louie's mentioned by Steve. It was really grungy inside and stank of tobacco smoke. It had obviously had an interesting past. I had to tear it all down and hand clean all the components and PC boards.
