Well done mate! Glad to hear you finally got one.
It'll come mate, no doubt. Just give it time.
Alessandro is a great bloke, so no problem here Kevin I would have thought.

I picked up a print of Derann's Pater pan at Ealing last weekend, its in fantastic condition, you certainly get some bargains at the film conventions

you cant beat the film conventions for all your needs you can see before you buy

Wow Andy shame you wasn't at the convention [Smile]

Posted by Andrew Woodcock (Member # 3260) on April 06, 2016, 02:57 PM:

Yes it's a real strange one this. Almost everyone I have spoken to and seen reports from regarding the recent Ealing event, said there really weren't any later quality prints on any of the gauges to be found.

Yet it seems, just like the last convention, if I'm seeking a print of something, guess what?

There was one there and it was in in superb condition!
What's the chances eh?
All those twenty something Derann Disney feature releases, and the one I'm looking for, from only two, just happened to be there and no doubt for around £80!

Must make sure I never miss another, who knows someone will be telling me I may have just missed out on WFRR still wrapped in cellophane! [Smile]

Yeh I bought a copy of close encounters the feature film, for a tenner, can't imagine how all those collectors missed it.

[Big Grin] That's pretty much how I feel - with the exception of a £300 print of Gone With The Wind I saw almost nothing of value feature-wise, and I was there at 9:45!

Posted by Andrew Woodcock (Member # 3260) on April 06, 2016, 03:51 PM:

Yes, I had read that thank you Stuart. Yours and many other members of our forums comments who attended.
That of course includes the comments of the legendary Bill Parsons who was in attendance I believe.

It was such a shame Ian was not able to make it for this one. I'm sure, if he had, things would have been a little more favourable for those like Stuart who attended and were looking for some quality Super 8mm prints at bargain prices or even Super 8mm prints, not at bargain prices.

Its a shame because people can see what prints certain people are after and they know you would give them the money back so they wouldn't lose out .A guy was after reel three of the wizard of Oz for ages and I noticed it at deranns open day and I bought it and got in contact with him through Facebook and he couldn't thank me enough

That's the way to do it Kevin! [Wink]

Yes I did see that GWTW print from Tony Reypart but didnt really see much else Derann feature wise. Also didnt see any Derann 600 footers like we used to see all the time. Still a great event though.

Yes thanks Graham, for your account of things regarding this recent event.
So G.W.T.T.W. from Tony, which now incidentally looks like it too, is now on e bay, but no Derann superb condition Peter Pan seen by you either????

Maybe it was in a different section in the sales library then this one?
Perhaps even a "white box special"?? Seeing as the one Peter purchased was a film by Derann entitled "Pater Pan"?

Who knows?

I guess it will all just remain a mystery to all those who attended???

Definately did not see peter pan but did not arrive until 10:30

Must be in extremely good condition please with minimal (if any) noticeable wear. No emulsion scratches please.

Andrew, there was a Derann Peter Pan listed in the sales list for subscribers of the Reel Image. I received the sales list a week ago, so it may still be available. I would contact Steve Osborne to see if it`s still available.

Andrew, I know that's a shame when you miss out on a print you're seeking. I'll look out for the Derann Peter Pan for you and if I find one in excellent condition like you want, I'll snatch it for you and then get in contact with you. Just curious, do you already have any odd reels of that feature?

Posted by Andrew Woodcock (Member # 3260) on April 08, 2016, 07:50 AM:

Jason, I was already aware of the one Steve has from a kind "heads up" with this one from a collecting friend of ours. Sadly it wasn't to be in this particular case, but I thank you sincerely for the heads up! [Wink]

Daniel, that is superb thank you and the money awaits instantly here for the right print. The longest anyone would wait for a reply/ transaction from me regarding this, would be only 12 hours so thanks again for your incredibly generous offer there Daniel! [Smile]

I currently do not have any individual parts either yet of this feature, so even mint versions of these, I would be interested in purely for spare parts purposes for this film.

Andrew, I just wanted to say, that I have posted a request for this movie in a super 8 forum in Spain. As soon as I found someone offering it, I'll contact with you.

I sweep regularly the french and spanish second hand internet places for it, too.

Let's see if we have good luck.

Thank you Miguel, that is very kind of you.😊
I am appreciative to all those here who have offered their help to track down one of these prints here for me!

A big big thank you to all!😊😊

Still searching for a top condition print of this title.

Any help in finding one would be greatly appreciated here.

Andrew, you're in luck. I just saw the auction on ebay. There it is, the Derann feature and it ships worldwide. Looks like it's not in mint condition, but very good and in original box. You might find odd reels for it someday, so I wouldn't turn it down if I were you. Good luck bidding.

-Daniel

Thanks Daniel once again, the only issue here seemingly is there are plenty of unknowns!

Even the length of the film at 1400ft does not entirely ring true (well maybe if it's another Taylor reel I suppose), but I truly appreciate you keeping an eye out for me with this one.

Thanks a million Daniel! [Smile] [Wink]

As my friend used to say of these things to the tune of Snow White...

"Some Day My Prints Will Come!" [Big Grin] [Wink]

Posted by Daniel Macarone (Member # 5102) on April 15, 2016, 12:19 AM:

I can tell it's a 1600' Tayloreel as the ad says it has a small core and the seller just sold a different Disney feature on those same reels, but still you can't be sure what shape the print is in and what source. It would be tempting to buy out all the potential prints I find, so I have pieces of that sought-after feature, but good that you can wait patiently for that one mint print.

Posted by Andrew Woodcock (Member # 3260) on April 15, 2016, 03:54 AM:

It does look slightly more encouraging thanks Daniel, now it has been established as being on one 1600ft reel.

The only issue with this one, is as you say, that you're buying twice in the hope of obtaining one in the condition I'm seeking here, and of course, we don't know for certain it is a Derann print here.

Still, that may be the way to go. Who knows?

I missed out on reels 1 & 3 of Peter Pan at last year's BFFC. I was in two minds and when I went back to the Bring and Buy someone picked it up as I got near. Not that that copy would have done for Andrew, but it shows they do come up from time to time.

Posted by Andrew Woodcock (Member # 3260) on April 15, 2016, 01:49 PM:

Just not last time Brian from what I've been reliably informed.

As you say, odd parts here and there will always be pulled out of someone's cupboard from time to time, as they are fairly useless to anyone unless you already have one with faults.

Then of course, they are like finding hidden treasure to the right person.

A few years back, I tried to raise an "odd reel" section here for offered and wanted odd reels. It fell flat on its face sadly.
Problem is I suppose, is knowing whether they'll match up in many cases.
Often films were printed on two different stock brands for example. Then of course, there are huge colour shifts etc etc.

Andrew,
Hi, I wondered if you bought those couple of Peter Pan features on ebay a while ago. Just curious if you had any luck and how good condition they might have been.

Posted by Andrew Woodcock (Member # 3260) on June 02, 2016, 10:58 AM:

I have got one now thanks Daniel. It's in lovely condition thanks and I've posted some screenshots over on the other place a week or so ago if you're interested.

I don't believe the print I've finished up with was either of those two advertised back then Daniel.

I am now actively seeking Who Framed Roger Rabbit with a good strong track and in excellent condition print wise.
Even better if one could ever be found in its original format with leads and tails intact still on 600ft spools.

Posted by Daniel Macarone (Member # 5102) on June 02, 2016, 01:07 PM:

Glad to hear you found it, Andrew. I hope you find the Who Framed Roger Rabbit print.
I have a Disney feature on my want list, too. I'm seeking a Derann print of 101 Dalmatians in excellent condition. I also would like Dumbo, but I have heard it wasn't released by Derann?

Posted by Andrew Woodcock (Member # 3260) on June 02, 2016, 01:34 PM:

It's available Daniel, but it is an import print.
The negative isn't quite up to the standards of the rest but it's still a good watch and relatively sharp.

Much better than many of the grainy early Super 8mm prints.

You may also find the same print over in Germany as a piccalo release.

Colour is still typically very good on these. [Smile]

101 ah...everyone's favourite! The very first I was after and then managed to find through a really nice collector back then.

I've since replaced it with another as the first print did have quite a few faults. It's a lovely print and ironically one I had out only earlier today to give it a look in after some time since I last did.

The print quality on this one is simply superb as are the colours. I will put one or two screenshots on here later to give you an indication of what you can expect when you find one.

Thanks Kevin, yet another great collector here that did all the ground work for me on this one. He knows of my sincere gratitude.

We have some fabulous people here, we really do!

Amen to that Andrew.

Yes, I share the same taste in favorites as many collectors and, unfortunately, I'm after very sough-after titles, which won't make it easy for me. I missed out on 101 Dalmatians a couple months ago; I tried to get it only an hour after it was posted, but an hour is an eternity to miss a print by on this site.
So, the search really takes patience.
