Hello folks,
So I recently got diddled on an eBay transaction and received a copy of Disney's Aladdin sold as "like new" but spliced onto two 1200ft reels together with a rather unpleasant surprise
While the film is in otherwise good condition, it is conspicuously missing about 17 minutes of footage. While I've titled this post with "Reel 3", I'm not sure where the Derann edits took place so I'll elaborate. The splice occurs at the point at which Aladdin's parade arrives at the sultan's palace after having discovered the lamp and cuts out everything until Jafar attacks the palace with the aid of the stolen lamp, just as the sultan is announcing Aladdin and Jasmine's marriage. The splice cuts into a scene so I doubt it was an original Derann edit.
While the splice seems to attempt to maintain a kind of weird continuity, what makes it worse is that the film is now missing the section that includes the song A Whole New World
Anyway, I was wondering if anyone has this section on a spare reel that they would not mind parting with for a reasonable price? My edition is dual track (Spanish/English) but I'm obviously not too fussy.
I know it's a long shot but well.. you know..
