That's exactly what I wondered at first, too - well, the difference is quite dramatic, actually! You see, the ST1200 has one AC motor, also a central rotary switch to control all the forward/reverse functions as well as an EFR lamp - and it's a twin-track mono sound projector. Really, a very mechanical thing (but very well designed). The GS1200 is MUCH more sophisticated as it has (for starters) FOUR motors for film transport, the reels and for cooling, it uses a 24V/250W (ELC, I think?) - correction: 24V/200W EJL or ESC - lamp, also it has electronic touch keys instead of the rotary switch and last but not least it is a true stereo machine. Finally, it has the all-important capability of syncing to an external source so you can either re-record the soundtrack on your feature films or show them with the sound coming off a DVD in true 5.1 digital quality
Now when I said the difference was dramatic - I meant it [ April 20, 2005, 10:01 PM: Message edited by: Jan Bister ]
