Hi, as promised, I have just received a delivery of 1200ft white card boxes. These boxes are very similar to the ones Derann used to sell and fit reels up to 315mm in diameter.
I have some on eBay at the moment at £2 each plus postage, but they are available to 8mm Forum members at £1.75 each plus the actual cost of postage from the UK. I do not charge for packing.
Supplied flat packed to keep the postage costs down - you only need to tuck in the end flaps to assemble.
I will also be offering an 800ft size box, which will be cut from the 1200ft boxes. The price is the same. These sizes complete my range of boxes - I can now supply any size from 50ft to 1200ft including odd sizes for special reels. These boxes also fit 9.5mm reels and boxes can be made to fit any size of old 9.5 reels that you may have.

I can vouch for John V. A few months ago, he's sent me 600' white boxes and they're perfect. Arrived within one week of when I placed the order. I'll buy again.

Fab news John, thanks a lot for this-we were REALLY in bad need for 1200 & 800 boxes! Will email you soon with an order... ...any chance you will expand to 16mm boxes too? Would be great to have, say, 1200 boxes for that gauge too;am sure more members would agree to that...

Hi, I can certainly look at a 4 x 600ft box. As I have never actually seen one myself, has anyone got a picture so I can work out the constuction? Are there any dividers inside to hold the reels? If any one can provide some measurements I will have a go at recreating one.
As for 16mm boxes, I could certainly look at how feasible it would be to get some made, but I would probably need quite a number of firm orders to justify the cost of a template cutter which has to be made for every size variation. I expect I would need an order of 200 - 300 of each size before I could commit to placing an order. I guess we are talking several pounds per box and I don't know if they would be cheaper than metal or plastic cans.
If anyone has any opinions on this, I would be grateful to hear them.

In reply to Grahams query regarding the manufacture of feature boxes like Derann used to sell, for me personally, I would much prefer say 4x600ft individual boxes and then an outer sleeve box to cover the four individual ones inside. The artwork could then be re-applied to the outer sleeve or at least duplicated onto it and then each reel would have its own spacer by having its own box unlike Deranns method of using a single oversized box to house all 4 reels. These were flimsy and very quickly had the bottom of the box collapsing under the weight of all 4, 600ft spools loaded with film in the one carton.

Thanks for the suggestions about 16mm boxes - I think it will be better if I start a new thread in the 16mm equipment section.
As for the idea of a slip case for 600ft boxes, this is something I will look at. I will try and make a prototype and will let you know when I have some news.
