Hi Everyone,

I am new to the forum (obviously) but have been lurking for a little while.

I am only now starting my adventure in 8mm. I was donated a simple Super 8 camera and plan on having some fun! However, I am also interested in more than just filming my own material. There is definitely a lot that I need. I hoped to get most in one shot and save on shipping but I doubt it will happen.

I prefer a Duo Sound Projector,
The Editor/Viewer can be S8 only as I plan to stick to shooting just that for now, but I won't look away from a duo with sound! I will also be looking for what I believe is called a film transfer box. (If I am not mistaken I should be able to rig a digital camera to the box? I am new so please help me out if there is a better process!)

I also need a splicer & tape, and surely other accessories such as reels/cans, leader(?) or anything else you all might suggest as a requirement!

Lastly, if my pockets dig deep enough I hope to have something to watch on the projector that won't be my own! I am open to films =)

The Duo also came branded with different names as well including PATHE. One good thing about them was the lens was of very good quality.

Thank you everyone! That website looks great, I wonder what shipping to NYC will be like. Seems like most of the quality projectors I am looking at are are overseas.

Regarding the Fujica, do you find it a better splicer than the Kodak Presstape Universal?

I just purchased the Eumig Mark S 807 D

Anyone have any comments regarding this projector? Thank you!

My 807 Dual has given me edging on for 40 years of service! Due to its age I only run it occasionally due to sentimentality but having been careful with it all these years its proven to be a reel pal.

Problem...
You may find the two rubber drive discs in the back need a clean with some Isopropanol put on a clean cotton cloth, also the metal drive wheel.
As with most 8mm projectors the white lamp connector may need replacing from time to time.
If your machine has had a loved life you should be OK after that.

Screens! It all depends on your viewing angle. If you have a narrow angle then then the best screen will be a beaded type. However, most folk like a broader angle and I have made a most acceptable screen from a piece of hardboard. All you do is to cut it to size and on the rough side, paint it with brilliant white cement paint (the type one uses on outside of houses) Then paint a black strip on the edge and Bingo! you will have a great screen at little cost.
