I talked to my customer about the st800. He said he was having speed problems! He's in N. Fort myers Fl. And he said the rewind slows down when it gets near the end! Will sell as is! So that's that!

My friend will need 18fps for the home made movies. Leon can you confirm that please I still am interested maybe it needs belts?

I will find out that speed problems he is talking about? He said the rewind works but slows down towards the end and then stops!

One of the classic ST-800 problems is that unless you use the Elmo style 800 foot reel (big hub) as a take up, the front clutch won't allow enough torque to finish a 400 foot rewind and at the end it slips and the whole thing grinds to a halt.

This gets even worse if that little one way dog on the take up shaft isn't spaced properly and during rewind you are dragging along the long belt and its pulleys during rewind. (If I remember right, the momentum of the take up reel is supposed to keep it spinning after the motor is stopped and it pushes the two halves apart on the next turn of the reel.)

Not one of Elmo's better machine! I never cared for it! Even Elmo told me that it did not sell well! The st800 and the Gs800. The 600 ft and the 1200 ft models sold very well!

One good thing about the Elmo ST800 you can put the ST1200 arms on it and run 1200 ft reels! That makes a difference!

Remember Chip if you get one to check its had the metal rollers in the top sprocket shue taken out and they have been replaced by white ones or it will scratch.

Saying that if just for the odd watch probably OK if the roller insides and shafts are cleaned and siliconed for now.

Only trouble is that one side of the two top sprocket rollers runs in the actual picture area.

Goodness knows why ??? its stepped in like that.

When I last had an ST800 as being a bit obsessed anti scratch wise I cleaned and freed the rollers well and properly again to be sure and ran test strips though, even then the part of the roller in the film area works a little in to the film and soon shows as a light mark etc.

I suppose each run both are on the same spot, so its double trouble if you will.

Its always been a mystery to me why that is`nt at the far edge of the roller.

Mind you the rest of the elmo scratchey issues have always been as well even in the mighty GS1200 !!!

Also I tended to find the metal rollers in mine prone to sticking odd times as well even with keeping on top of them.

I was also never too keen on the green platic area around and after the soundhead either myself.

The roller shaft could be dirty or worn? Both should turn with the film! I always had that problem with these rollers! But when I clean or replaced the shafts. That would take care of problem!
