SHANE 120 Mins, 2400ft Colour Available from Derann
Shane, directed by George Stevens, is a film which always appears at the top of any list of best Western films. Certainly it is Alan Ladd's best film, where he is perfectly cast as the mysterious stranger who befriends a frontier farming family (Van Heflin, Jean Arthur) and their son Joey (Brandon De Wilde) against cattlemen and a gunslinger named Wilson, brilliantly portrayed by the sinister Mike Peckham -I mean Jack Palance. Filled with shots of magnificent Wyoming scenery, Shane is a truly wonderul film. Derann's print is of exceptional quality, with pin sharp definition and deep rich colours. The first reel has some negative scratches, but does not detract from the enjoyment of the film. The rest of the film is fine.
Very highly recommended Print A/A Sound A [ October 27, 2006, 04:36 PM: Message edited by: Paul Adsett ]
