I recently won Bauer P8TS Universal projector on eBay. Having checked it out, the only problem seems to be that if I use it for magnetic sound, there's only the feintest trace of sound, even at full volume. I wouldn't complain to the seller (who probably never used it for magnetic films) as it was clear that it hadn't been tested for a while, and the price was good. Optical is fine, so it can't be the amplifier. Just wondered if anyone has any suggestions regarding finding the problem? I can't imagine that the sound head could be worn out.

Though I've never had one of these, I have had the same problem on an Elf. The cause was that the head moves down to make contact with the film when in mag mode and on this machine it wasn't even moving because it had siezed. A bit of lubrication, and all was well.
