I have an Eiki Elf RM-1 [Basically same class as all the RTs and RSTs] and after a long time away from it i've only just realised how noisy it is compared to the higher end models like the elmos.
Has anyone had a go at trying to reduce the noise? Or general soundproofing techniques that can be applied to the most noisy parts.

I expect some of the later Eiki's are significantly quieter - I have an ENT that's probably the quietest 16mm projector I've owned.
If it hasn't had any lubrication for a long time, it might benefit from a general service. As you're in the south east, you could consider taking it to Bill Parsons, who knows all about the right types of grease, etc.
People sometimes say that standing a projector on something like a rubber may help to dampen the sound.

Thanks! I was initially thinking of sliding some kind of sound proofing fabric into the rear of the casing, but probably more likely to cause overheating.
