Good Day, I'm new to the group and found this forum very informative. I recently purchased a Bell & Howell 552 Filmsound projector off Ebay. I noticed the take up reel having problems turning. I got it to work but still having issues. When I run a 600' or so reel it works fine until about half way and then the take up reel slows down thus slowing the film down. I noticed that the take up reel had the "intermediate style rear arm. I thought it might be an issue with the felt washer but I replaced it with a rubber one same size but that's not it.

Another problem I found is that I had the "early style" front arm gearing and replaced that with the "current style. Now if the rear arm is the "intermediate style" and the front is now the current style, do I need to replace the rear pullies to match the front...apparently now when I rewind a film the front begins rewinding when switching the main switch to rewind without having to push the "rewind" button located near the framer button.

All in all, two issues..film slows down in the middle and film begins to rewind without pushing the "rewind" button near the framer.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm new to this but eager to learn..I have the repair and parts manual as well for reference.

Many Thanks,

Steve
