New to the hobby and wanted to see what everyone considers a "must own" or popular film that is culturally significant. I feel like their are a few I would be interested in.

For example, I just picked up a Super 8 Abbot and Costello "Who's On First" that I can't wait to watch.

I also own, "Mouse and The Motorcycle" which is something I remember watching in elementary school. And a few cartoons by Ub Iwerks, like "Jack Frost" and "The Pincushion Man."

Some that I am in search of is the 16mm color and sound version of "The Pincushion Man", and a children's educational film "Beginning Responsibility Lunchroom Manners" which is one Pee-wee Herman used on his live stand up shows.

Hello Clinton! Welcome to the forum!

You should pick up a copy of THE GREAT TRAIN ROBBERY by Blackhawk films. This is a milestone of early cinema.

Difficult question, particularly with 16mm as there are often too few prints circulating for "must own' to be widely feasible. However, I think 'The Day the Earth Stood Still' deserves to be considered culturally significant, and it does happen to be a title that I know is relatively easy to obtain on 16mm, due to the relatively high numbers circulating. In fact I even have two myself, so if anyone would be interested in a dupe...

There's also a quite nice Ken one reeler on Super 8, that's probably harder to pick up than a 16mm feature! CHC released it as a Super 8 feature but there were only 10 prints.
