Who knows well this projector?
I mean this precisely model, others in the same line though can be a bit 'different.
I'd like to know the maximum speed in FRAME RATE that it can. With his variable speed knob.

I think it have a maximum of 16 or 18 frame rate, but... can a 16mm projector do not get 24 frame rate?
It means that at that time (this projector is very old) 16 MUTE projectors could reach up to 18 frames for second and not 24ffs?

Luigi, from the few informations I found in French about this specific model, it seems that it is similar to the other projectors of this family. It seems that there has been a sound version (there is space to had a sound head, on the picture you added). From a picture I saw, referenced as a Heurtier 53, there is a double position for the speed belt. I'm 99,99 sure, the standard speeds are 16/24 fps, not 18 (this speed came later). Maybe someone who has a projector like this can give you sure informations.

It's possible 16 fps, yes Dom, not 18. But 24fps... I don't know, I shot the film at 24 fps with my Krasnogorsk 3 and are slightly slowed, a bit in ralenti. Even if I turn the knob to the maximum (it have a regulation knob, not the selector for 16 or 24fps as some Heurtier models).
Instead, the commercial film, like Film Office, it seems to be at the right speed (or appears). [Confused]

Luigi, if what I read was correct, there should be at the other side of the projector a Wheel that has a belt connected with the motor. There is a big and a small place to put the belt. One is for 16 fps, the other is for 24. If the Wheel is made for only one position, then the model you have doesn't run at 24 fps.

Luigi, I will take a picture of the Wheel that is on my Heurtier (another model, tough) and you will see if it is the same on your projector. Allow me a few time to do that :-)

Luigi, I hope your projector has the same system. The first picture shows the bell (it is connected with the motor).

This is the wheel I was refering to. If you put the bell on the lage side, you get one speed and, as you already guessed, if you put it on the small side, this will be another speed.

Thank you, Dom, now it is a little 'clearer.
I see that your projector is a sound type Heurtier, the other side for the motor belt for 24fps is necessarily.
Your model, on front, have also the knob controller for speed or the two speed 16 and 24 are fixed?

As you can see, my projector has only one side for the motor belt, so... maximum 16fps (with speed knob at maximun). Apparentely nothing strange, but I'm always surprised by the fact that it is a projector also for 16mm mute, so it should also have the 24 fps...

No Luigi, there is no 16/24 knob. It's the same system as the one used on the Cingel projectors.
I don't understand why you assume there is no 16 mm projectors with a 16 fps speed only. There are many silent 16 mm films and this gauge was created before films had a soundtrack.

Maybe you're right, Dom, maybe also an old mute 16mm projector can be goes maximun at 16 or 18 fps. Maybe also some 16mm mute film goes at 16 or 18 fps.
But I did a little research on web, but I found nothing about this data.

Luigi, the "wheel" seen on the second picture has to be removed and reversed to set the speed (the small part close to the body projector for 16 fp, the big part close to the body projector for 24 fps). Can this wheel also be removed (by unscrewing the last round part) on your projector ? If so, maybe there is a possibility to mount another wheel ? Sometimes, there are mysteries : I have a silent 9.5 projector that has a two blade shutter and runs at a higher speed than 16 or 18 fps (I never measured the speed so I don't know if it runs at 24 fps.

If I had the "wheel" that you have on your projector, could also mount it on my version, my "single wheel" is is removable (with unscrewing). I don't know if these Heurtier also have other differences, for go to 24 fps, but if I had replacment, I could try.
I keep an eye on ebay!

Indeed even your 9.5mm is a mysterious case.

I saw there are also versions of the Comète 600 with optical sound, whith, of course, 24fps.
For silent version is right 16/18fps, but... have you ever tried to use it with your 9.5mm sound films that need to go at 24fps? Without audio, of course. You see the slight slowness?

I didn't run any sound film in that projector Luigi. It may be possible to put a potentiometer at the motor but this is to be checked.

To watch my 16mm films at the right speed should just find a 16mm projector at a good price.

Luigi, 16 mm sound projectors are not that expensive. You may consider buying one. That would allow you to project your home made silent films and sound studio films.
