Hi,
I just bought a Bauer P6 automatic on ebay and after open it to clean it i found some strange modifications. It's the number 1 on the photo, does any one know what is it for ?
I have an other question, on the photo, the number 2 represente a missing cap (on top of a place with a lot of grease) do i need to replace it or it's not a important part?
Also i read on a forum, we can use Essence C to clean the film, somebody on this forum use this to clean the film ?

Pierre
I would suggest that the two capacitators (1) have replaced the usual single one which is used as a motor starting capacitor. It is quite possible that perhaps a direct replacement for the original could not be found.
As regards (2) I regret that I cannot help.
I also regret that I have never heard of Essence C. For general cleaning of film Isopropyl Alcohol is suitable, however, many enthusiasts have a great love of FilmGuard as a film cleaner/lubricant

Essence C is a French market reference . You can buy it from shops but you have to ask for it since it's not legal to display those bottles on the shelves. I use it sometimes on some films (to save my precious Filmguard, no longer sold in the UK). It's a not expensive product to clean film but you must have your window open as it's not healthy to inhale. Essence C mainly removes grease and cleans the films.

Ok, thank you. Now i know i can't use essence C safely.
I have a other question, which kind of lamp i need to use for this projector. I looked on Van eck and other website, their sell standard lamps,GX5.3 . But it's doesn't seem to fit. I take a picture of the lamp location.

As Maurice noticed, the mirror seems to be in bad condition and that may affect the intensity of the lightning. Keep your fingers crossed.

Such mirror problems were rectified when Bauer brought out their later model, the P7, because this now used the well-know ELC lamp with its built-in reflector. So, every time a new lamp was fitted the projector also gained a new reflector.

I just received the lamp, the projector is working fine. For the mirror is was mostly dust, some scratches remains but the image is very bright.
Steel needs some cleaning, but I'm very happy that the projector is working well.
