I just bought a eiki SL-2. After cleaning it, put a new belt, replace the lamp and change a broken fuse, it's working fine . But the problem is a parasite noise, it's seems to coming from the motor. The noise appear wenn it's plugged.

The knob (switch) seems very hard to turn in projecting position, , is it normal ?

What your opinion about this projector compare to the eiki rt1? Because i want to make space.

Yes, this month i was very lucky to found many projector, super 8 and 16mm. But unlucky that they all have a small problem. I managed to repair some of them but the other like this one, I'm stuck. Buying from none collectionneur is a bet every time. This is the charm of flea market.

This projector also plays magnetic films, so it's nice for scopitones. What I don't like with it (I don't own one myself but the 9.5 club has a modified machine and uses it for the monthly projections) is that if the film is a little damaged, it stops abrutly. My Fumeo had also a noise (like if it was acting like a radio) but recently this has stopped, I don't know why (maybe the source of waves has disappeard ?)

I hope this radio sound will stop soon. I bought the SL-2 because it's seems more gentle with the film in contrary with the eiki RT-1 particularly for old movie. Have you some idear about the knob problem ? ( i try to grease this part but no amelioration)

Now i have a bauer p6, two rt1 et the SL-2, i want to keep just two projector to watch film (i'm not intrested in scopitone). Which one to keep ?

I have one of these great machines, while it could be annoying that it shuts down if the film is badly damaged, but all i can say about that is, ensure the films going through it are not so badly damaged that it needs to shut down. As for the stiffness in the switch etc, it sounds like it needs a good full service to bring it up to scratch. All the threading levers etc sounds like they need cleaning and re-greasing. Same with the loop restorer. Mine was the same but after a good service all is now 100%.

My suggestion is to keep two Eiki projectors, the SL-2, and the better of the two RT-1 projectors. Both use the same lamp, the ELC.
The SL-2 is a slot loader with larger sprockets and is quite kind to film.
