THE EMPTY CANVAS aka LA NOIA (1963). Horst Buchholz plays the son of a dead Italian nobleman who forgets the disappointment of finding he has no talent for being a painter by succumbing to the sexual advances of an amoral model (Catherine Spaak), who believes in indiscriminate love affairs. Bette Davis chews the scenery as his mother, a wealthy American woman who lives in a nearby villa. This was her next project right after "Baby Jane". Shot in Italy. Original print, nice contrast, masked widescreen, good cond. £75
13 WEST STREET (1962) Late Alan Ladd vehicle. He is an aerospace engineer who is assaulted by a gang of JDs who ignores the police (Rod Steiger) and hunts them down himself. Almost a precursor to Death Wish. Original TV print, some splices, £40
NO HIGHWAY (IN THE SKY) (1951) Jimmy Stewart at his most Jimmy Stewart-ish plays an aeronautical engineer who predicts that a new model of plane will fail catastrophically after a specific number of flying hours. He takes a flight to prove it. Marlene Dietrich (!) is also on board, for billboard appeal. Original print with some splices and a scratch on one reel. £50
