Perhaps someone here has come across BBC show or anything that covers the 1968 solo sailing race around the world. Specifically, Donald Crowhurst's trimaran (the Teignmouth Electron) was outfitted with 8mm movie cameras mounted on the mast as I recall from the book - or at least he rigged one up. I always wondered whatever became of that footage. There are sample 8mm images in the book about his attempt and ultimate demise.
Also, I have a 16mm copy from the NFB of Canada titled "Sailing" its a 1965 montage of fabulous sailing scenes out of Holland. I also have "Singlehanders" about two guys each racing across the pond in trimarans, so to speak (the Atlantic).
So, if anyone can point me to any sources of vintage sailing footage in these kinds of topics - even if to say you have seen the Crowhurst footage, that would be great. Its an eternal quest of mine to discover that footage.
