I just read this in the Independent:
http://arts.independent.co.uk/film/news/article3255611.ece
My initial reaction was one of apprehension. It's all good and well to resurrect a great, beloved name, but the sceptic in me shudders at what the phrase 'introducing it to a new generation' could mean.
The idea that the first product out the gate is a YouTube video doesn't exactly give me the urge to jump with joy.
Hammer's place in history is secure, but I am of the opinion that if you can't do something to continue the traditions of such a name, can't you at least have the decency to leave it alone. The answer is, I suppose, 'guess not.'
I'll give them the benefit of the doubt, though, until I see otherwise.
Best, Claus.
