On 16th June I posted "Printing A Topic." I explained that my "Print Preview" would not display it correctly, although when I tried to print it did indeed print out OK and all the pictures came out well.
Seeing the posting with some super pictures "GS-1200 Sound Flutter" I selected "Printer-friendly view of this topic" and then went straight to printer. It printed 9 pages but when I took the paper from the out tray I discovered that none of the very useful pictures had printed.
In their place were (the same) pictures of an out-of-focus face just showing the eyes and nose with the following comment:-
ILLEGAL PICTURE!!! The piece of shit who tried to post a picture here is illegally STEALING bandwidth from another web server!
I am not a piece of shit. I demand an apology from the Forum.

Any chance of having this thread removed? It's rather offensive and not really the sort of thing we usually have on here.
Maurice, the reason that offensive rubbish comes up is due individual firewall settings.

Hello Maurice
I had the same problem some time back and it turned out to be due to my firewall settings. Not being a computer wiz I can’t advise you how to reset things to stop it happening, though I’m sure some one will.
It’s apparently to do with a mechanism in the programme designed to stop people using automated programmes to register on to forums and start threads up with advertising material in them.
Have to agree with you it is a bit of a shock when you see it on your screen!

That is an old problem that was hard-coded into the forum software. To be honest, the problem was so many years ago that I cannot even remember what the exact situation was that it was intended to fix other than it was related to porn sites abusing the picture upload feature of the website and in essence, having me pay for their bandwidth.
The downside is that if your firewall is incorrectly configured, you get that message (but the rest of the world sees the proper picture). Sorry about that. At some point in the future we may change software, provided there is a reliable way to archive all of the existing posts.

Maurice,
The title of your post bothered me, so I've altered it. And since I had that reaction, I can only imagine what yours was when you discovered what had printed up. Along with Brad, I'd like to apologize for what was originally meant to discourage bandwidth thievery.

You could change the software to only do it if the person has referrers enabled (I always have them disabled and have to enable them to see pictures) and that way people without them will see the image as well as people with them.
The only downside is that if people don't have them enabled they will see the image on other sites, but most people won't post them on other sites because the people who have them enabled will see the evil message.

I wondered who that guy in the picture was. I thought it was one of Brad's relatives. But now that I think about it maybe it's that new CEO at Ebay.
