Hey guys, I use a Bolex SP8, with I assume the factory-fit lense. I noticed that Classic Home Cinema sell Super8 trailers of new movies, like Avatar, which is presented in wide screen. If I projected this using the Bolex, will the image be stretched, I assume I would need to have an anamorphic lense, mine is Bolex Hi-Fi 1:1,3 15-30mm
Yes, if you want to show films in Cinemascope, you must have a 'scope lens in front of your regular projection lens, otherwise the image will appear "squashed" (unnaturally narrow-looking.)

I got in two used prints from Derann this afternoon, one of them is "She Flies" which is 'scope.
For some reason I decided to use my Bolex SP-80 Special, which is just a fancier version of your projector (both are really Eumigs anyway..), instead of one of my Elmos.
-maybe it happened just so I can tell you that the Sankor 16F Anamorphic works very well with these machines. The "Bolex" lens actually fits slightly into the back of the anamorphic, which makes alignment very easy.
My Sankor was found for me by a friend in the UK and once belonged to the Royal Navy.

Difficult to say, Chris. It depends how big and where. I have a 50+ year old Home Made Anamorphic with a LARGE chip on the edge of the front element, caused when I dropped something on it. I painted the chipped area with matt black paint to minimise reflections and I can't see any untoward effects on the resulting pictures. As long as it's very small and right on the edge of the element ....? The Sankor is quite a good lens, but don't try to use your projector lens at less than about the 17.5 mm setting or you will get a falling off in brightness at the corners (cut-off). Martin

I find with mine I need to zoom the prime lens for the smallest picture possible and move the machine up a couple of feet or the picture won't fit on my 8 foot wide screen.
This is one of those times I wish I had the 25-50mm lens for my Elmos, or maybe about another 4 feet of screen.
(-but then what would become of the front door and the china cabinet? I think my wife might notice them missing.)
