I've noticed there are some 8mm films on ebay that are re-listed over, and over again, mostly at ridiculous prices, you'd have thought that if they hadn't sold by now at the prices they are trying to achieve, something must be wrong somewhere. They have to pay a re-listing fee every time, and in a couple of cases I'm sure there are a couple of features that have been on ebay for well over a year (if not more), we all just scroll past them each time, but it seems strange and ilogical to me that they should still be there in the first place. I know it's of course down to the seller what price he's trying to get, but come on, if it's not sold by now, try a different tact (like reducing the starting price, at least!).

Hey Barry, you mean like the guy who keeps listing the clint eastwood trailer reel for about a hundrud quid, its been on there for months and months relisted over and over again [Big Grin]

My favorite is REVENGE OF THE CREATURE 200' sound for $225 (along with similarly-priced listings.)

I really wanted the Frankenstein Meets the Wolfman, but not a 200' at 200 dollars

Vidar, what is your problem with Mark (isellprojectorbelts)? His store items on eBay are not the same as re-listed films with high prices. I don't think he should lower his prices just because several days pass? He is advertising his items for the exact reason he stated to you. When someone has a broken belt they can get another one quickly, without waiting for a new listing to appear on eBay. He has quality items at a reasonable price in my opinion. I'm glad I could contact him to get a standard or custom made belt when I need one. Its not like I could go to a local store to get one. As you well know, this hobby is not cheap....

I guess the re-listing of the HIGHLY priced Super 8 films ... Nothing to do with his belts at all, which probably isn't too bad. I have searched for a sound version of Frankenstein Meets the Wolfman, but at 200 dollars, which it has been all the way since I first saw it many months ago. I have no problem with him at all. His choice to try to sell at those prices

I think it's the same Revenge he's taling about above. Search for Super 8

I agree with Joe Taffis: Mark (isellprojectorbelts) shouldn't have to lower his prices when he didn't make a sale. He is there when you need him. I wouldn't think of getting belts from anyone else. Also, when you're a power seller, listing fees are free; and some sellers you can list up to 50 items in a month without paying listing fees. His re listing of his two sealed Castle films aren't costing him anything.

I quite agree with Barry. If a seller can't get his asking price for a Buy It Now film he must realise that he will never get a sale at his quoted price.
Quite often these continually renewed listings do not even have sufficient detail which might possibly encourage a sale.
Is the seller expecting a mug to finally appear with cash in hand?

Barry - I think you will find that the titles/sellers you refer to are only listing on a "Free Listing" weekend, therefore no fees are paid.

As you say, it is non-sensical not to price the films "to sell".

You have to set the price at a price that "it will sell", not "what you think it is worth".

If we all "priced" film at what it is worth to us, as collectors, we would never sell anything.

At the end of the day, the film is only worth what a buyer is prepared to pay for it.

isellprojectort belts admits $225.00 is high but that's his sales gimmick. He wants you to be bug eyed and look at what else he has since he's 99% sure he won't sell it at that price. Again: it's not costing him anything to relist since ebay doesn't charge listing fees to power sellers.

Bary,

In Ebay.com listing an item is free for the first 50 items.

Beside that there is also an option to automatically re-list the item if it is not sold. Some sellers ticked this and forgot about it.

Last, there is a time where new collectors don't have any idea about the price and just bid it.

If I may ask here, Bary on your store there are many duplicate titles (esp. Tom & Jerry and WDHM). Why don't you list them on Ebay as a lot. Some new collectors are happy to buy one lot for similar genres for the sake of completish.

Dear Winbert,

I am one of the few legitimate dealers who do not use ebay, and I'm proud of it. Everything sells in the end, and as I have discounts every issue on my old stock items, why do I have to pay fees to ebay when I've got a loyal following of collectors.

I'm very proud of my independence, hence my trading name, but even I know that if you can't get a certain price for a film, then next issue it will be discounted in some way.
