After seeing the hatefull 8 in 70mm film I emailed Odeon asking if Star Wars was also being shown on film not digital. They replied the only place in the whole of Europe is the London Science Musium imax cinema in Imax 15/70mm 2D. Odeon do not advertise this, only through the science Musium, all shows seem wide open, unlike the well advertised harefull 8 roadshow I could only get tickets for the Saturday night midnight showing!

I saw Star Wars in 3D Imax at the Empire. I was interested to see what the laser projection looked like. I found the experience overwhelming. I was subjected to a picture far bigger than necessary and assaulted by sound. For me, the Odeon 70mm showing was far more enjoyable, especially sitting in a real cinema and not a black featureless box. Hope the Science Museum cinema is a little more designed for enjoyment rather than just effect. Can't imagine what an intimate moment looks like on screens as big as Imax. I found it intimidating. A bigger rubbish film is still rubbish!!

Ah, the advantages of being retired! I went to the 11.25 am showing of The Hateful 8 at Leicester Square and there were only 30 - 40 people in watching. I haven't made it to Start Wars yet though.
