Ronald As far as I know the spools are 2200ft. These were initially designed for running 1-hour 16mm TV prints. Your projector should be able to cope quite well. Make sure you are using plastic spools.

Isn't more got on by having the centre hub smaller? Also the film itself being thinner in the later days due to being a different material?

Why do you suggest the plastic 2300 reels over the metal. I only use plastic. Sorry about the stupidity, but I don't know why one is better than the other.

Just an FYI, 2300' reels do exist in metal (I have several myself) but as others have already stated, they are heavier to start with and that would only be 'that much heavier' on a fully loaded takeup arm.
