I've just heard from the maker of this re-released DVD that an NTSC version is now available, it's £10 plus £5 post, so if any U.S. based collectors would like a copy then contact me at indi8films@aol.com as I take the CREDIT CARD orders for this title.

This DVD is so entertaining!

I bought one from Barry just before Christmas.

Maybe not so great technically by today's standards (however, whoever is releasing this is doing the very best they can with the master material), but so much fun and happy memories to watch Derek, the Derann staff and all of the "happy" super 8 customers enjoying themselves back in the day.

Plus there are lots of extras, such as the extracts from the Keith Wilton Armchair Odeon DVDs, with lots of home cinemas in the 90's, including Derek Simmond's own home emporium.

Watching Derek and Ged sit and talk to Ray Harryhausen prior to the Blackpool evening dinner is just a gem.

Real nostalgia and actually quite cool to re-live those memories through analogue video tape capture. Just great stuff.

Highly Recommended - Buy yours today!

I miss Derann. I never even got to get my first print from them. Did they also sell VHS or am I mistaken?

Derann did temporarily release quite a bit of VHS video product in the early days of the video boom. I only have one of their releases, which is a one hour version of the Peter Walker film 'House of Whipcord'. For many years I thought maybe the master was an unreleased Super 8 4x400' version. Eventually someone enlightened me that they had obtained a large bargain stock of one hour tapes! Tapes must have been far more expensive then.

I can only imagine. I own House of Whipcord on VHS, back then tapes went for 40-70 dollars.

Now, you can't give them away!

Maybe we should have all just stuck with film in the first instance. Look after it, it retains its value rather better,at least up until now it has. [Wink]
