Anybody ever come across a decent print of the original 1961 Walt Disney film of this title starring Donald crisp & Laurence Naismith?

Great news David! [Wink]

It is a superb classic film with real historical attachment.

I was wondering though if anyone had ever heard of a Super 8mm release of this film primarily.

I didn't think so either Panayotis but thank you for confirming the situation.
I may well stick with digital projection methods for this title then thanks.

I doubt my ear drums would take the strain! [Big Grin] [Wink]
I love Super 8mm, always have done, always will do.

You know the origins of the prints, you can guess what the quality will more than likely be, no tv prints therefore hopefully no excess splices, I don't ever see much by way of any sprocket damage, you know the distributor and in most cases the lab that printed them.
Easy to store, easy to use in the home, the projectors can work almost silently in some instances etc etc etc.

I could go on but I think you get my viewpoint. [Wink]

For those with the room and a booth, i am sure 16mm and 35mm would be brilliant in home cinema land.

For me it will always be 8 & Digital.

Some good points raised Andrew. I had a chat with a chap at the last BFCC whose name escapes me, but he thought that single-perf 16mm was inherently a poor design with too much stress placed on the single line of perfs, leading to premature wear. I'll take that design though, as long as there are Technicolor prints left around. I can't think of anything that beats a good IB Tech Scope 16mm print. Apart from a 35mm IB Tech scope print of course!

And then of course a good IB Tech 70mm print! [Big Grin] [Wink]
