A while ago I eagerly picked up a BluRay of "The Dish" 2000. Got it home, sat down to enjoy again one of my favourite movies, this time in HD. Unfortunately, the image on the film was dreadful. No better than a standard DVD. In fact, it seemed a tad worse, to me.
So I took it back to JB HiFi and gave them a song and dance. To my great surprise, they refunded my money, then told me they planned to return the edition because of other complaints. They offered to email me when the film had been corrected and a clean disk made.
Some time down the track, I got the email, with the nice note that I could come and collect the new disk at no cost. Well, this I did. And yes, they had rescanned the original print and made a very good BluRay.

quote: Which just proves the value of complaining when something is unsatisfactory.
Yes, I always do complain if I feel it's justified, Dave. It was a bit tricky in this case, because I half-expected them to say the disc was fine, it was just my eyesight. Picture quality is a bit subjective, I suppose. quote: I'm discorvering the expression : "to give s.o. a song and dance". Funny
Dominique, "Song and Dance" is an Australian expression used by folks of a certain age, (like me), but I think it's also used in the UK. quote: Reminds me of many years back when Studio Canal first did a release of selected Hammer Horror movies.
Yes, Rob, they don't always get it right. Nice to know some companies will still own up and do the right thing. quote: That reminded me of the soundrack I bought at the time we ran the film, well worth getting. It includes such numbers as "Classical Gas" and "Good Morning Starshine"
I ran out and bought the soundtrack as soon as it was available, Graham. I already had most of the songs on CD collections, but since I have about eleventy million CDs, it's good to have favourites all on the one disc.
