I've been quiet for a little while now, not on purpose, but my brother Michael and myself have some news to tell you, after nearly 30 years at our home (and business premises) we are on the verge of moving. We've sold our Ramney Drive home and are looking at a 3 bedroom bungalow or the like (actually looking at some tomorrow (Saturday)) with enough room for a new shed for the film stock.

I'm not sure at this moment in time how it will eventually effect the business in the short term, as everything will have to be transfered to a new address, but until we commit to a property, nothing can be done, new telephone number etc.

I'll keep you all informed, once I know more, but there's some hard work in our future, but it should be worth it, in the long run.

All the best,

Barry.

P.S. everything is as normal though at the moment, so same telephone and email as usual.

Barry,

Best of luck on your move and I await pictures of your new climate and humidity controlled storage unit (shed) that will keep your films in optimum condition.

Thanks guys, Doug that's all I've used for the last 25 years, so it does work.

Yes, best of luck on you're move, Barry. Best wishes that it goes off without a "hitch"! [Smile]

Just thought I’d mention there are some nice bungalows in Southend, and you get the sea thrown in!!

Good luck with the move Barry. Big decision, but I'm sure it's the right decision for Michael and yourself.

As to Dave's comments about Southend-on-Sea. Sounds a bit more like Southend-in-Sea!! Not sure if Dave means a bungalow on the beach there, or if he turns up at your door and chucks a bucket of sea water over you!

I think you'd best stick to higher ground Barry!

All the Very Best

Robin

Fancied Fleetwood myself all those trams, sea air and scooter ride outs wonderful. Only downside when we looked at a move my Eumigs have grown accustomed to this little nest and the film collection likes it where they are not to mention beloved wife. Plus the Elmo's rarely enjoy the big lift over the doorstep including my back.

Re the shed Barry. Lets not forget DCR Films operated pretty much from his shed, now visiting that was quite a surprise back in the day!

If I remember correctly he was in Sandown on the Isle of Wight, not far from the sea either.

Correct [Cool]

Few years ago now when we were on holiday I ventured to take some photos of the DCR shed I must dig those up. I wonder who would up with his reel to reel audio dubbing system? Memories..

Well we've put a bid "in" for a nice 3 bedroom bungalow, in Weeley, just outside Clacton in Essex, we should know by Monday or Tuesday if we've had our offer accepted, just crossing fingers, as there's a Post Office 3-4 minutes walk away, very, very handy.

Barry, I always liked Essex, and lived for about 5 years in Chelmsford. Used to go swimming at Clacton quite frequently. One day I rode my bicycle from Chelmsford to Clacton, for a swim, and back again. Happy memories of Chelmsford. [Smile]

Maurice,

There's enough room for a 16/18ft long and about 12ft wide Climate controled ediface (in other words, a big shed and a storage heater for the winter months, with a lined interior), just got to put a firm base down, this was one of the first things we checked. The garden even has a mature Apple tree, so plenty of Apple pies and crumbles, Yum!

Contracts all being good, we will be moving to Weeley in Essex in the next couple of months, as after a little horse trading we have settled on a final price. We've got a few things to do, as per usual when you go into a new property, but overall the bungalow is in very good condition. Within a couple of weeks of moving in we will sort out our new 'Film Shed', get a base down then the new shed (we've already seen one we want!). I'll update with more news when we know it, as now it's down to the Estae agents and Solicitors, and they aint quick!

Barry sounds like the new shed will be bigger than the DCR Film shed! Bungalow is a really good move my friend. Take care both of you.
