The reason is I was having this problem! Found out it was the pressure plate springs! So I replaced them and that solved the problem! I replaced them with Bolex pressure plate springs! They are a lot better than the Elmo springs! They have a lot more strength! And gives you a rock steady picture!

I also thought that other factors that could affect the jitters are...

1) Dry films - A well lubricated film would slip through easier.

2) Dirty films - Which, together with dry films, makes the claw work harder and affects 100% stability.

3) Slightly shrunken film. Super 7.9mm !

I would welcome fellow colleagues comments.

Melvin, if you put a good pair of pressure plate springs on! That will keep your films running steady! I put mine threw a test! I tried films on the dry end and they stayed steady! These springs make a difference!

The wrong spring pressure,(too much) in a gate can also scratch film.

Also you can replace the aperture plate spring? If it is weak it can cause jitter!
