Went along to the Renown Film Fest in Stockport which was taking place at the wonderful art deco 1932 Plaza cinema. A interesting day particularly with special guests Jenny Hanley and Stephanie Beecham who I was hoping would sign my much loved films Scars of Drac and Drac A.D 1972 and they duly obliged. Steph was really interested in the box art who she had not seen before which was interesting. Other guests were on the programme plus a number of rare short films loaned from various sources plus the theatre organ was in full use.
Upstairs we had a room full of dealers selling films and even you could even come away with a 35mm movie camera..or two! I got some new 1940's cinema tickets and the machine for them was also on sale.
Nice to see some friendly film collectors and we had a good chat during the breaks about all things film. The event itself was a complete sell out and the cinema was packed out.
Hats off to the Renown team for a very professional event and the next one is in 2020 at St Albans.
