The projector has been working fine but for some reason the rewind now jams, I have the type with the spindle that you twist to rewind but now it locks the motor from running.
I guess there is something jammed in the gearbox but not sure how to approach it.

I've removed the unit and unscrewed the gearbox cover but not opened it yet, it looks like it's got a paper gasket? looks like I need to take the front chain pulley off but so far the screw has proven stubborn. Can someone advise if there is a seal to break to open it?

When was the gearbox last lubricated? It may just have dried up. Before you start dismantling, lift off the rewind key and insert some oil.
It's a thought.

Other than the rewind problem it runs perfectly Maurice and I followed someones advice here and already added a few drops of oil.
Turning the mechanism by hand is also very easy.
When I want to rewind and turn the little keyknob it just stops dead & I have to quickly turn it off to avoid damage to the motor

Vic
The gearbox is a casting made from the notorious material called Mazac. If you try to take the cover off you will no doubt crack it and that's the end of your gearbox.
If forward running is working satisfactorily I suggest you use some other method of rewinding your films.

I already took that decision Maurice & decided not to open it and I've now fitted it back in, it's not worth the risk simply for rewinding when all else is working very well.
