Once upon a time... the great italian cinema. We had Vittorio Gassman, Ugo Tognazzi, Alberto Sordi, Vittorio De Sica, Totò and Nino Manfredi.. Yesterday Nino Manfredi died! He was the last one in life of that wonderful group! Here some photos from a super 8 copy of a Nino Manfredi film. http://members.xoom.virgilio.it/driveapples/giocattolo.html

Hi Ugo, My favourite Italian movie of all time is "Cinema Paradiso" by Giuseppe Tornatore. A great movie by any measure, and particularly for film buffs. The last 5 minutes of the mature Toto watching the movie clips left behind by Alfredo the projectionist, reduces me to tears every time. A wonderful film!

Hi Ugo, I was not aware that Nino passed away. Thank you for posting this news.
Indeed, Nino Manfredi was a great actor. I love his film: Bread and Chocolate (Pane e Cioccolata). I can watch it again and again. But it is most enjoyable to watch it with an audience, especially when they understand Italian. He displayed wonderful comic timing in this role.
Ciao, Michael
