Hi all.
Is there anyway of dating a film release through the codes that are found on the packaging, for instance i have a 200ft reeler from Walton titled King George V No. A883 the film was originally filmed in 1970 or released in 1970, but i was wondering what year walton released this film.
Also can other films like disney prints or the MGM digests be dated in the same way.

Chris.

If it's on Eastman/Kodak stock, or Fuji Stock, you should be able to find a date code along the sprockets. Other companies stock are not so easy to figure out...

Fuji is the easiest with its date actually printed on, agfa never bothered with any date thing as far as I know.
Seeing the date code on super 8 for kodak can be awkward if its alittle faint on LPP its usually a bit easier to see as not a bit faded.16mm quite easy.
Do you have the film date codes chris, you can get them at the film-center site.Or perhaps someone can put or paste them here.
I find it interesting to find out when a print was done myself.
best Mark.
