Hi folks, A bit of background: I'm new here on the Forum but have been tinkering around with Super 8 film since 1998 when I stumbled across an old Focal (Kmart) movie camera, in original box and packing material, for $5.
My question is this: my projector, a Bell & Howell Super 8 Autoload Model 461B, works very well UNLESS I try to reverse while projecting film. This causes the projector to immediately lock in place, rectifed only by setting the motor switch to Forward again. After a film is finished projecting, I can rewind the film to original reel with no problem. What is the cause? Slipping belt?
I have never had the cover off this Super 8 projector but have recently peeked inside my Bell & Howell 16mm sound projector to fix an aged, slipping belt, so I would probably attempt this repair myself. Any tips or warnings will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Micah Henry
