Perhaps this is not so spectacular compared with re-recording, but as you may have known from my previous posts, I was so obssesed to collect 8mm in thier original artwork boxes. Some suggested to create our own cover using computer design, like what Andreas had done with "THE ARMAGEDDON".
But to me, the Original design is more collectable item, so I don't make custom artwork cover for my 8mm. The problem arises when I received a mini-feature of Wild Geese from German ("Die Wildgänse kommen") which came in 2 x 800 feet reel and the original cover of course no longer available. Luckily, the previous owner had sticked the original front cover on the 800" plastic case.
I was preparing to re-spooled "The Wild Geese" to the original size 4 x 400 for an easy storage, as well as to re-recording it with the English soundtrack.
But, I was so obsessed to have the original cover and moreover (sorry Andreas.... ) I didn't like the cover which was in German, so I also tried to 'english" the cover without changing the original design. I am using all fonts that were on cover and re-placed them to make the English words.
So....now I am only going to re-recording the soundtrack, which I don't think would be hard, since dialogs were not that long in this movie. If I had done it...I will fully have an English "Wild Geese".
This title was not released in English soundtrack in UK or USA, wasn't it?
Dear Andreas, since I have only front cover, would be very much appreciated if you can post (or email me) with the backside cover.
Thanks,

WIld Geeese from UFA comes in 4 reels. So if it is 90m then total length is 360m.
BTW, Andreas, yeah it's funny to see how the company was cheating on buyers. If it is true that the total length is only 360m, they could actually spool it onto 3 x 120m, couldn't they?. But to have an extra 149 DM, they broke it up into 4 reels.
BTW, Andreas , I always found a 149 DM price tag on 400' German reels. What was the value exchange to US$ at that time?

Winbert,
1) yes that´s possible. 80 m releases of "Tim and Struppi" have only about 60 m.
2) 149,- DM was the price for each 400er reel color sound. It was the suggested price (unverbindliche Preisempfehlung) from marketing, ufa and piccolo. Retailer could sell at this price or for more or less. But the most sold for 149,- DM.
1976 1$ = 2,52 DM 1978 1$ = 2,01 DM 1980 1$ = 1,71 DM 1981 1$ = 2,27 DM
Jan,
ufa = 4 parts with real length of 360 m Derann = 3 parts with real length of ???????
