I am going to buy three full features but I did not know how many reels were originally released for respective titles, i.e;

1. THE MIGHTY GORGA (released by Powell Films Ltd, Color and Sound), at the momment there are reel no. 1-4
2. THE MAN IN THE IRON MASK (released by Walton Films, Color and Sond), at the momment there are reel no. 1-3
3. KING KONG (released by RKO Films, B/W and Sound). This title definetely incompleate since only reel no. 3,4, and 5 are available. But is reel no. 5 the last reel?, or there is reel no. 6?

So, for no. 1 and 2 are they compplete or not? and don't forget for my Question no. 3 about KING KONG.

Thanks for your help,

Winbert,
The full version of Kong is on 6 x 400ft reels. That's the US version.
Originally, when the film was distributed in Europe, it was amputated from its beginning and was opening with the boat already anchored at Skull Island. But I doubt your odd reels come from an old european version...

King Kong comes on 6 reels! Drat... glad to have heard about it here, though, as I was considering bidding on the 3 reels on eBay... but if #5 isn't the last reel, then thanks but no thanks. [Eek!] Winbert, they're all yours. [Big Grin]

Mighty Gorga,possibly the WORST film ever made,was a 4x400fter.

Jan, luckly I was outbid, otherwise I have to buy odd titles. I prefer to loose first reel than last reel. I previously was thingking (if reel no. 5 was the last) to find a digest and add it as an extra to start the movie. But, now I would have to find the last reel, no way!

So I have attached here the King Kong picture so someone could definitely confirm that reel no. 5 is not the last reel from this RKO Film release (Or Mountain Films as seen on the box too).

Thanks

I have to say that I thought Mountain did King Kong a 1 x 400ft, 4 x 400ft and also the uncut 6 x 400ft. Can anyone else confim this?

I once briefly owned 'The Mighty Gorga' (bought cheaply at an auction) and must agree with Trevor's words: "possibly the WORST film ever made". It's incredible to think that a film so inept and boring was released on 8mm. No one who had previously seen it would want to watch it again, let alone buy a new print, so I imagine that anyone that bought it had little idea of what they were letting themselves in for. Just imagine the dismay of collectors who spent what must have seemed a fortune at the time, watching about an hour of tedious scenes of people walking through a jungle, followed by a fight with someone in an ape suit.

It's almost worth watching in order to fully appreciate the efforts of Ed Wood. His films may have been inept, but they always entertained.

Yes, and oddly enough the seller says it's on 5x400' reels.

What gives [Confused] Is this the full feature or not [Confused]
