Hey everyone -- I just won an old Walton 4 X 400' reel feature on Ebay and the seller says the shipping in two parcels would be 36 pounds... Does that seem high? He seems like an OK guy but maybe there's a cheaper airmail option he doesn't know about. Any suggestions?

Yikes!,

That does seem extremely high! I've gotten two 4x400' features from the UK within the last year and neither was anywhere near that! (Then you figure in 1.89 USD/GBP and it really hurts!)

Brian, I've been paying around $30.00 for shipping super eight features bought from the UK(surface). A 4x400' feature on plastic reels in a box only weighs around three pounds. I think $70.00 is a bit steep.

You can calculate postage at Royalmail; http://www.royalmail.com/portal/rm

Hi Brian he can split it into two to go either surface or small packet air( pretty OK to the states) should be able to get it a bit below that. its up to 2 kg but I would think you could just about get a walton 4x4 under that, but a splits usually OK.
Doesn`t need added insurance either with these as he can ask for a proof of postage which is free that covers them up to £32 for each package or just the one if under 2KG.
best Mark.
